I am also having this issue with the 800's... will be playing then head back to the last track killing the music completely. it wont let me start the track up again until i eject and re-insert the cd...

coudl this be an over heating problem or a short fuse??? any help would be great.

    thanks

Same story with mine. It just jumps back to the last 10 seconds of the previous track for no reason. Also totally random, i haven't found any pattern or logic in it...

  • wessel317 Feb 18, 2009

Does it happen with burned CD's or also with original cd's? And what are you using to burn the cd's?
I burn all my cd's with itunes on apple and I have a slight suspicious that the way i burn the cd's have influence on this. It is the only thing I can think of... How is that with you?

Lens cleaners aren't enough. You might have to take it to a service center to have it opened up and professionally cleaned.

If there is no damage to the cd traverse assembly, then the issue might be with either the quality of your burned CDs, or method used to burn.

I always tell people to burn at slow speeds - 4x is ideal. Yes, I know it's slow, but it will burn your cds at a better quality.

Tascam cd-rw750 - while recording from another CD player (using digital coax connection), machine records for some time and then just "jumps out of record mode" and goes back to the beginning like nothing...

1. First problem: "like nothing is recorded". IS something recorded or has it been left in Pause Mode so long (instead of Recording) that it just got impatient and time out?

2. Get yourself a couple of CD-RW Digital Audio discs to play with until you're past this learning curve/problem scenario. That way you can always erase them and start over without having to discard the disc.

3. Dropouts on playback. Are they repeatable - always at the same place, even on different CD players? If so, the data is bad on the disc. If not, the data is probably marginal.

4. If you have a DVD player, try to play the failed recordings in it. Some DVD players can play back unfinalized CDR's. You may be able to recover the data by copying it back to the CD Recorder from the DVD player. Just be advised that an unfinalized CD-RW may not have 'silence' following the last recorded track due to old data remaining from a previous session, so be ready to pause or stop the recorder when the last track finishes.

5. "Scratches near the outside of the CD". Were these NOT present prior to entering the CD Recorder? Do they seem to coincide with about where the recording may have failed?

6. 20 vs 19 tracks: Is this a constant problem or only when there is a failure during CD creation? If the latter, it would make sense as the last track in isn't technically completed.

Player jumps back to previous track for no reason

Have you tried cleaning the lens out? Invest in a good quality CD cleaner. IF this does not solve your problem, then you more than likely have damage to the reader, and will need to be replaced.

My tracks don't play in the recorded order, list I made them.....

If song tracks jump or skip then it is problem of cd player like optical laser is dirty / clogged,
and if track doesn't jump or restarts in middle of playing back then cd player is just fine,
Please check cd creator software settings.

Cd jumps tracks

The CD lens may need cleaning.
Try a 'wet' CD lens cleaner.
The laser PU may be low emision.
