Depends on which model you have, usually a setting in capture settings.

200mm pics are blurry even with tripod

Happens all the time, and for a lot of different reasons.

If a tripod isn't sturdy enough to support the camera and lens then it may as well not be there. You might want to read this article.

If your camera and/or lens has any kind of image stabilization capability, turn it off when you mount it on a tripod.

A remote release may help. But if timing isn't critical (as in landscape shots) try setting the self-timer. This gives you plenty of time to take your hand off the camera before the shutter fires.

One way to tell whether the tripod is the cause is to use an absolutely rigid support for comparison. Set the camera on a rock or stone wall or fencepost or some such and take some pictures (with and without the self-timer). You're not going for great pictures, all you want to do is get them onto your computer and see if they're sharper than the pics you take on your tripod.

When I take a pic, there is a delay in the time

Hi,
There could be several problems like: 1)the focus 2)Self timer set to 2sec or 10sec 3)very slow shutter speed set
Make it as a 10 or 20 second delay on the self timer .Your problem here could be that the settings are not right. Go to the menus and reset all to original or default. Then set menus the way you like. You may have a slow memory card, try changing to a faster card, and test it.
Thank you!

Want to shoot a timed pictures ie, a pic of myself and my sister together and me setting the camera on a timer and getting into the pic...what do I do? Don't have manual with me. I have a Canon EOS 40D

Did you know there are two firmware updates available for your camera? For a timer picture, here are the instructions: 1Press the <o> button. (
9)
2Select either <j> or <l>.
Look at the LCD panel and turn the
<5> dial to select <j> or <l>.
j:10-sec. self-timer
l:2-sec. self-timerN
3Take the picture.
Focus the subject and press the
shutter button completely.
The picture will be taken after the
self-timer delay elapses.
You can check the self-timer
operation with the self-timer lamp,
beeper, and countdown display (in
seconds) on the LCD panel.
Two seconds before the picture is
taken, the self-timer lamp will stay on
and the beeper will sound faster.
Do not stand in front of the camera when you press the shutter button to
start the self-timer. Doing so will throw off the focus.

I have a powershot A560 it takes a long time for camera to come back to a place where you can take another picture. I cant find a place on the camera where I can reset the timer.

I use an A550 and an A570, and when the batteries are getting low, they slow down between pics. Also, if the flash is used, IT has to recycle between uses, and THAT takes time. On MY cameras, I press the "function" button, and look for DRIVE mode to change timer settings. Hope this helps.

Does camera have timer

Putting Yourself in the Picture The Self Timer creates a 10-second delay between the time you press the Shutter button and the time the picture is taken. 1 Place the camera on a flat surface or use a tripod. 2 In any Still mode, press the Self Timer button. The Self Timer icon appears in the status area. 3 Compose the scene. Then press the Shutter button half-way and hold to set the exposure and focus, then press the rest of the way down. Move so that you are in the scene. The Self Timer light blinks slowly for 8 seconds (then quickly for 2 seconds) before the picture is taken. The camera "clicks" when the picture is captured. To turn off the shutter sound, see page 64. The Self Timer turns off after you take the picture or if you change modes. To cancel the Self Timer before the picture is taken, press the Self Timer button. (The Self Timer setting remains active.) To turn off the Self Timer, press the Self Timer button twice.
