I think you have not installed the drivers given by the manufacture .. try installing it ....
if the problem persists then check the cable is connected properly or not ...
if it is connected properly still not working then there may be some problem in the cable change the cable & try again ...
if you still persist the same problem then there may be some problem in the port in pc ...
or the driver database might have got corrupted just try reinstalling the operating system ....
this solves your problem

any doubts reply me
i am always here to assist you
thank you
bye
dnt forget to rate the solution

Hello,

Seems like your trying to use the camera from a shortcut? Instead, connect the camera and turn it on, if the screen of the camera has a selections creen, select PC or similar.

Then open my computer or computer from either desktop or from start menu.
In my computer you should see the camera or a removeable storage device, inside you will find all the pictures of the camera.

please let me know if you need further assistance.

Will not recognize camera plugged in, not able to download pictures from camera, window reads,"the computer can't detect the camera or scanner, please be sure the device is connected properly"

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

C170 trouble downloading

Make sure the camera is on and pc is selected on the camera screen when connected to the computer. You will need to have PC highlighted and select ok on the camera as this starts the camera and computer to communicate. Once communication established the LCD screen of the camera goes dark and the computer should generate a removable disk drive. Check the System Tray (lower right corner beside the PC time) for Safely Remove Hardware. When you click on it, it should read "Safely Remove USB Mass Storage Device Drive ?:" If you dont see that, then check the Device Manager to see if the camera is recognized as USB Mass Storage Device. The camera uses the driver usbstor.

Canon A460; Downloading pics to computer

I have the exact same camera and all I did to put my photos on the computer was plug my camera into the computer using the USB cable provided. A wizard window should pop up and click on import photos. If that doesn't work, then I'm not sure what to do. I have windows Vista, by the way.
