Totally agree, ez off is a extremely strong lye. damage is done! however, you can remove it with some high quality air craft paint remover but look out for other parts. the next suggestion is if the powder is in tact but discolored, clean it very well and go but a can of krylon fusion paint made for plastic in a shade that suites you. tape off the bike and spray the powder. this paint will really stick and holds up well. i used some to make a colored wiring harness as i could not get colors i needed in the wire. if you remove the powder, you will have very ugly aluminum staring back at you. if you go that route, buy a dremel tool and polish the aluminum and coat it with some diamond clear from eastwoodco.

There is no going back, you have chemically changed the powder coat composition. Learn your lesson well and next time use a H-D listed cleaner and a very soft brush.

How to adjust carburator on 99 harley davidson fatboy

Only adjustment that can be made are to the idle, idle mixture and needle valve which requires some disassembly. Idle mixture should be mae when engine is warm. remove brass plug on bottom of carb ( need to drill out) be carefull, may need to remove carb. Install carb, warm up engine and adjust screw in or out to acheive best idle, then turn in 1/4 turn. adjust engine idle to 900- 950 rpm. If engine smokes under accel drop needle down 1 notch, if seems weak or hesitates under load, raise needle one notch, refer to Harley manual for specifics

95 touring bike. leaking bad at primary and on the belt.my guess is the mainshaft seal. now my service manual showes an oil seal being installed on the shaft without removing the sprocket. could this be...

more likely trans seal or inner primary seal and may as well change the starter seal while you got it open im not sure what seal you speak of but you got a lot of tear down in front of you and youll need a special socket for the trans pulley

Harley Heated Hand Grips not working

The harley heated handgrips are notorious for failing.  Some people have reported finding a loose connection on the ground wire, like they did not crimp the terminal on the end of the wire at the factory.  If they are wired externally of the bars (almost impossible to wire those any other way) then it should be easy to follow the wire down to inside the headlight bucket or in the nacelle or dash, (depending on what model bike) and check the connections.  If both grips quit at the same time then it's probably wiring.  If one quit first, then it may be the grip itself.
If you need to replace them, I would highly recommend not buying the HD brand anymore, and instead choose Polly grip heaters.  They are made for snowmobiles and have a long list of benefits over the HD type: - fits internally in the bar end, so you can use any grips you want - cost $35!!  compared to $250 for HD - easy to install
I have installed over 7 sets in my friends bikes and not one single failure.

Power on ignition on not starting, tac goes on no lights accessories won't even click

See if your system relay is functioning. you should hear it power up when you turn the ignition on. It's a little black relay. But it depends on what bike you have as to where it's located.

Rear turn signals

if you have the old harness and the connectors are still in good condition that should be as easy as replacing each wire individually from connector to connector. remember to solder your wires one at a time matching color to color and wrap with heat shrink tape, then incase the new wires in a new plastic wire conduit to protect from road grime.

Black smoke

Change your air filter and clean the blow by tube that crosses the heads and connects to the back side of the air filter. If the tube or the air filter is clogged, then the oil that the blow by removes is going back into the cylinders, causing the black smoke. Also keep in mind that a Harley will blow a little black smoke upon starting as it ages, it's normal.
