Question about Frigidaire FRT15G4B Top Freezer Refrigerator

Freezer GFI reset

I own a Kenmore 15 cu. ft. chest freezer (model # 253.19531994). It is 4-5 years old and has worked flawlessly until last week. It now intermittently trips the GFI outlet it is plugged in to. I have replaced the outlet, but the problem continues.

Just before these symptoms started, the freezer's door was ajar for several days, which may have made the compressor and motor turn on more frequently, or maybe even run continuously. Would the higher compressor duty cycle cause this type of failure? If so, how do I fix it?

No what rpobebly happened is that your freezer fillefd up with humidity and now its shorting out and tripping the breaker. make sure that theres no ice in the freezer also you should not really have it plugged intoi a gfi outlet.if its in the garage near the breaker panel i would add a dedicatefd outlet for the freezer from the electrical box.

I have a Kenmore 5 cu ft freezer that won't come on. I've checked the plug in and it works fine. Where would I start looking for the problem????

If, by plug in you mean the socket, then you need to check the fuse in the power plug next.
At the very lease there should be some light on the unit that illuminate even if it does not FREEZE.
If the compressor comes on wait to see if there is any drop in temperature. then it is possible the fuse was faulty.

see below links for more information on possible causes

    Fridge/Freezer cools intermittently

It could be the thermostat. When you catch it in a cycle where it's warming up, gently tap the dial with the handle of a screw driver. If it starts chances are it's bad. If you know electricty you can jump the two terminals on the thermostat to do this test.
