POWER SUPPLY I need to replace a power supply (Power Man Model No. FSP235-60GTW). I need to download information from my hard drive. Is there a better way than buying a new power supply? My new computer doesn't have the proper connections for my hard drive.

Another option you have, would be to purchase an external enclosure for the hard drive and it would then connect via USB cable. These enclosures are usually about $30, and the device works quite well as an external drive as long as you have USB 2.0

This would enable you to access all the information on that drive *and* you could use it as a backup drive for your main hard drive as well.

Good Luck!

  • I have the same Macally hard drive enclosure and I misplaced my power supply also. I used an old IBM Thinkpad power supply. These are common and cheap. The Macally enclosure states 12V DC input, and the Thinkpad PS is rated at 16V but it works fine. The plug and polarity are correct.

In my opinion Motherboard issue, but I can't assure, it could also be the Power supply, as bad power supply could cause the motherboard mal-function and is causing the hard drive failure. If the motherboard is under warranty, you better get a replacement than wasting another Hard drive, and I hope it's better for you to replace the power supply as well, you'll spend less buying a 450watt power supply than buying a new 500gb hard disk.

Also make sure the cabinet is properly fitted and the ground is working without any problem, you can check this by using a tester (screw driver tester) after it's connected to the mains, or you can try with your hand (it'll not kill you :-], but I don't recommend if you have a screwdriver with tester).

If you need further help, let me know.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Thats the curse of having a mini PC, the power supplies are limited, causing a limitation to add in graphics cards.
You may do better using an external power such as the ones I use for connecting external hard drives, then connecting that to your Video card power connector.

Need power cord

According to the Maxtor/Seagate knowledgebase information: your adapter calls for these specifications.

Model: SYS1308-2412-W2
PART NO: SYS1308-2412
INPUT: 100-240V ~ 1.0A MAX
50-60VA, 50-60Hz
OUTPUT: +12V - 2.0A

I Googled the part number and found that several power supply dealers sell this unit.
The Jameco Company sells a power supply with this model number.
I hope this helps you.

Seek replacement power supply unit to suit model ad 6008 ,wd elements external hard drive.

Either Ebay or Western digital are your best options for a replacement power supply.

However I might reccomend a new external enclosure as a more cost effective solution.

Prices are quite low and it may also allow you to put the drive in a better case.

I need a diagram of the atx pwr connector for an ASUS P4V8X-MX

If you mean power to the devices themselves, the 4-pin connectors coming from the power supply plug in to the drives. The red wire is +5 volts, the yellow wire is +12 volts and the black wires are ground (earthing) connections. IDE hard drives and CD drives use the same connector. SATA drives may have that same connector as well, but most use a different style. SATA-ready power supplies will have 1 or more plugs available. Adapters to switch from the 4-pin IDE plug to SATA type are available for supplies that don't have the right connector.

If you are asking what power pins from the mainboard power supply connector are supplying power to specific controller parts on the mainboard, that kind of detailed information is not available. Mainboards manufacturers do not supply circuit diagrams or repair information. They simply replace any boards that fail while still covered by the warranty, and expect you wil just buy a new one if the warranty has expired.

Much information about ATX boards including the power supply cable pins is found here:
