This error code indicates excessive detergent suds occurred during the cycle. This could be caused by using too much detergent or not using High Efficiency (HE) detergent. The washer will not be able to spin out water with the excess suds.
If this is a high efficiency washer you can use an HE dry detergent or an HE lignin detergent or the new pod detergents. Do not use non HE detergent in an HE machine. The difference is the amount t of suds that the detergent makes. If it is not an HE washer you can use whatever detergent you like HE or non HE. Many front load units have a adapter that you use when using dry vs. Liquid detergents.
F20 water only problem insufficient water supply open both hot and cold unclog hoses
F21 Drain problem clogged,frozen kinked
SUD excess sud using non he detergent or to much detergent
F22 front door lock door not closed properly
For these select poepwer/cancel twice to cancel cycle
Other f codes select power/cancel twice select drain& spin if youhave excess water
Being a high efficiency washer, this model uses less water. Not all the soap suds have not been rinsed away. Most likely you are using the wrong detergent. Use detergent with the he label on it.
Add one cup of bleach to the empty washing machine, and wash on hot.
From experience, and your description I am going to guess that you are either NOT using HE (high efficiency) detergent, or you are using too much detergent, or both.
You really need less than you think.
With HE washers, if you use non HE detergent, it can cause buildup of biological scum on the inside parts of the washing machine, which causes the odor.
High Efficiency detergents are supposed to have a different formulation in order to reduce foaming. Over foaming in a front-loader will reduce the cleaning action (flop & drop) within the drum, and reduce the rinse efficiency.
SO usage of non HE can reduce the efficiency and the bearing are tend to be worn out...
High Efficiency detergent is strongly recommended for front-load washers. This detergent is a "low sudsing" detergent as opposed to the regular detergent. If you use regular detergent is a front-load unit, you may have issues down the road!
Hello Nancy,
this is what I've retrieved right from Samsung.
"dc" on those washer's mean this, In the words of ( Samsung ) the manufacturer..."Unbalance or cabinet bump is detected during final spin which prevents it from spinning over 400rpm". ( Never exceeds 400rpm due to unbalanced load ).
Then they (Samsung) say, " not enough load. Put additional items to equal load" or "excessive suds from too much detergent or wrong type/non-high-efficiency, use less or switch to high-efficiency ("HE").
I would check for too many suds from either too much "HE" or you're using the wrong stuff...regular detergent/non-"HE"
let me know if I can assist you further and thanks for coming to "fixya" today.
Good luck
macmarkus :)
I went to Sears today and asked! They said use high efficiency detergent (marked HE on the label) and put it directly in the washer with the clothes. Mystery solved!
