My son's DUR 1800 is about 3 years old. It was working okay yesterday morning (although its been sticking even on a almost new DVD) and then in the evening it started acting up. It stays "loading." It wont do anything else. The disc is spinning. Any suggestions? Sandi B.
My daughter had the same problem with hers. What happens is the laser gets stuck. When you remove the DVD-I'll bet the laser is not all the way in towards the center. If you GENTLY slide the lens towards center, and it moves at all, that's the problem. The fix is to look inside the horizontial slot that the laser runs in-you will see gears-with a Q-Tip, put a drop of sewing machine oil on the gears, then rub the oiled Q-Tip where you see a rail that the gears run on. Try it out- the other fix is to check for loose plastic pieces inside the machine. Tilt it GENTLY, from side to side-if you hears something sliding around-try to get the piece out somehow-the case is not hard to open. BUT try the sewing machine oil fix first. Also this machine does not like some DL (Duel Layer) disks-not all but just some-I haven't found a fix for that yet-but still looking.

When I turn the player on I get a blue screen that I can see very well. When I put DVD in the picture gets very faint and you can barely see it. The switch on the side is set to TFT on. What do I need to do?
