I'm trying to see iff Garmin would repair my unit? This is the letter Im sending to them Hell Garmin Support Team, I bought the Garmin c340 almost 3-4 years ago at a Best Buy In the Vero Beach area. I love this GPS even after trying out The newer one’s like the nuvi 265wt , I still like the GARMIN BETER THAN ALL O THEM. I wanted to see if there is a way to send it back For repais, etc… I seen some listed on ebay but that’s always been a problem For me When ordering electronics online unless it’s a huge BOX store Or the manufacturer. I just can’t find the receipt of course. But the number on the back of the GPS is Listed : StreetPilot c340 then below 116299197. Can I send it back in for repairs and if so where and how do I get started? Thanks, Scott

Most likely they will request a proof of purchase to confirm you are within their limited warranty policy. You could try saying it was a gift? Might work around holiday season.

My unit had the same problem. So I tried this first. With the display unit facing you, the aluminum cover plate has the the word GARMIN on it. Use you fingernail under the word Garmin and the cover plate comes off. The left part of the cover stays attached to GPS and the right side lifts up exposing the RESET button. I pressed RESET and POWER together and it works now. Hope this works for you also.
well after being on hold with garmin for 32 minutes they told me to send them the unit back and will repair at no cost.
My unit was purchased on may 27th 2007.
I had the same problem on a trip. Required two fixes and once I did this the unit worked fine.
1. Replace the fuse in the car adapter (reason it wasn't charging when I used it in the car).

Try resetting the unit. There is a reset button under the faceplate. Carefully remove the faceplate with the Garmin logo with your fingernail or a knife blade. There is a reset button along the right side. I bought a refurbished C340 and it did the same thing right out of the box. The tech support people where I purchased the unit told me how to reset it.
The battery usually has a small charge when arriving from the factory, but it can die before it is received. You should charge this by plugging it into the car or the computer.
Remove the face cover (GENTLY pry it loose by the fingernail groove directly under the GARMIN logo), press the RESET button, then re-attach front cover... this is covered in the owners manual, also available online at garmin.com /support /downloads
I have a 100v A/C power / charger unit for my garmin C340 GPS that I use to charge my Garmin's battery every day. I can use thj adapter to run the GPS, or just turn it off and let it charge the GPS. But it connects dirctly to the Garmin GPS unit, not to the cradle like the Cigarrette lighter unit does. .
Have you tried resetting the unit? It sounds like you may have a problem that Garmin needs to address. I would try to reset it first, then make sure you have the latest firmware loaded on the unit. If you still have the problem, it may have to be sent to Garmin for repair.
Avoid buying Garmin GPS. Their units have a non user replaceable battery that last about 2 years. After that, you have to send the unit to Garmin to replace the battery and be hit with at least $150 plus shipping. Possibly more if they need to fine tune something else. Look at other brands with easier battery replacement such as Sony, Navigon, etc. Garmin is a total rip off.
