Cant connect from laptop yet can off the desktop???

Please help me before the frustration kills me!!!! I bought a Belkin G Router to connect my desktop and my laptop wirelessly to the internet. After following the step by step instructions, the desktop works most of the time, apart from the drop of connection now and again. The main problem is the laptop (ie. MINE ONLY) is now displaying a message saying 'cant connect due to connection being cancelled. This could be due totime out or user action'. WHAT HAVE I DONE??????

Umm i dont abought this scenario but i think you need a belkin 2 usb connectors one for yur desktop and one for your lab and then try to connect them if u have a wep key u have to put it in it is a password to get on the internet, another thing you can do is fill in the i.p adress specifically , and if all that doesnt work jus connect a 6 foot wire to the desktop or lab it will get you on the internet

Hi, we have a Belkin wireless router and the 'world' light has disappeared. We have been in contact with our service provider and all seems to be ok on that side. I understand there is a lifetime warranty...

Hi Nenia, could please give us the model number of the wireless router again from Belkin.
Second , are you trying to connect to the wireless router, using a wire or using the wirless only.

Thanks

Belkin wireless problem

If you are connected straight from the modem, your router will not have internet access, only if your modem is connected to the router you will be able to go online wireless. connect your modem to the router nad router to the desktop, so that you can access both wired and wireless connection

My belkin router wont work :(

If you access your router, look at the wireless settings, you may need to change a setting to allow b + g connections, your laptop may have a 'b' adapter.

Belkin setup

Normally, connect pc with router, and modem off. Turn on the desktop and then turn on the modem and router. letting the modem and router assign ip addresses to all connected devices.

Pc connection problems

Sounds like you are setup to use Internet Connection Sharing. don't do this. Have each computer connect to the internet via the router. If the router is wireless connect all computers wirelessly to the router that are wireless capable and any computers that are not wireless capable, connect them to the router via a cat5 cable to the cat5 ports on the router. This will solve your problem. BPCS

Losing internet connection when I try to connect laptop to wireless router

Your cloning the mac address - thats the problem. It should use it's own mac address to connect to the modem. You need to power down the modem, then repower after a minute or so to let it connect to the new mac address. The problem you are seeing is due to network collisions betweenj the desktop and the router with the modem.
