Are you getting any error message please let me know ,please unplug the power from the scanner and wait for 30 min and scan , IS this happens only with scanning with transparencies sheet you can try placing a plain white sheet behind the transparencies sheet and when scanning the lid closed,,,,,,,Try scanner in different power supply and scan , ............If this did not work please uninstall and reinstall the software and scan..................

Lamp shuts down during warm up cycle!

My belief is that it would be inside the scanner itself. In transparency mode the lamp may require more power and shutting off is a safety device if something is failing. Sadly, repairing a scanner costs almost as much as buying a new one.

Canon 4200f warm up

I must say my first scan is always long.

Then, I have changed the setting into ScanGear CS/Settings/Preferences/Scanner/Shut off lamp time:
I have increase the value to 28 min.
PLUS
Since my scanner is up on a cold shelf, I have put a newspaper right under as a cozy blanket, and I have noticed a great difference on the next scans

I have a CanoScan 8600F. When I want to scan I get the not enough space on the target disk

This seems to happen quite often with the Canon scanners. If you know you have enough space on your hard drive, open the CanoScan Toolbox, then click on Settings and change the folder where the temporary files are stored to another folder of your choice, or create a new one in your documents.

My canscan 4200F won't scan. It gives me that code 2,178.0 what is it?

Go to this link. In the search window in the center of the screen, type "error 2,178,0" (without the quote marks) and click on the Search button next to it. Select the first link that shows on the next screen, and you will see the options for correcting this problem.

How can you clean the glass on a Canon 8600F

Got this from Canon.com: The foggy haze on the glass is actually an anti-glare treatment that has been intentionally applied to the underside of the scanner glass. This treatment lessens the glare from the lamp under the glass and provides better image quality. This haze may not appear uniform because of the shape of the scanner base and the components under the glass. However, the anti-glare treatment has been uniformly applied and the haze is as expected.

Receive "cannot scan because the original may not be set correct.

Is your Scanner locked ? If yes then you will see there's a solid plastic backing on the inside of the lid that needed to be removed. Also remove all protective plastic too.

Will not scan photos, only slides

Where are you scanning from? Do you get an error? If scanning from Toolbox, check the box that says to use ScanGear or use the Scanner driver. Then make sure it is not set for Film as the select source.
