Power cords are of different types, and can be bought from most of the electronic spare part selling shops, and wont cost more. Keep the damaged power cord with you as a sample, when you to to buy a new one.
You will need to buy another power cord for the exact model of your laptop. You can either find it in local computer stores, or you can search for it on ebay.com (usually search by laptop make & model, & usually buy from a top seller).
The power cord should look very similar to the one in the back of your computer. BestBuy, Radio Shack or any electronics store should carry it. Verify with your computer power cord first before buying.
