Suddenly, when I scan on the flatbed, the scanner does not stop after completing the first scan...it starts up again and repeatedly scans the same document until I push the stop button many times...with the sheet feeder it works fine with multiple pages...

Scanning require disk space in you computer. Try to remove some clean up or remove some document files in your hard drive to free some space. Check also your C and D drive jf how much disk space it available.

This could be due to excessive usage which the scanner can not tolerate and as a result the movement of the scanning mechanism losses precision. So avoid continous scanning.
The problem is simple.Someone or somehow the "TYPE OF ORIGINAL" option on ur SCANGEAR CS window.Set it back to "MAGAZINE" or "PHOTO" and it should scan in color.
