The unit hangs after resetting via the 'reset' button on back. It hangs with 'PALM' in the display window. I thought the battery was dying, so I replaced that - no difference. Previously, the on/off button stopped working, but I can turn the unit on with any of the 4 buttons at the bottom, and the unit was configured to turn off after (I forget) minutes of non-use.
The on/off button is secondary. I am primarily interested in being able to get the unit to power up normally.

According to the manual a hard reset will erase all of the user data on the device and restore it to the factory settings. On the Palm Tungsten E2, you can do this by holding down the power button while pressing the reset button on the back of the device. When you release the power button, you will then confirm the hard reset by following the directions on the screen.
You can try doing a hard reset. A hard reset will delete everything on your device. All your
data will be deleted, and formats, preferences and other settings are
restored to their factory default settings. Don't perform a hard reset
unless you've backed up your data, or you're willing to lose everything. Here is the link for directions for the Hard Reset:
for hard reset press reset hole and same time hold power button and release after 10 seconds choose yes when option given to erase all data.
Please make sure you have backed up your data prior to hard reset as it will erase all personal information and set everything to factory default
do a soft reset, press the reset button on the back of the unit, if you still have the stock stylus, the top will unscrew to expose a reset pin, to allow you to access button. Press the button, screen should sow a restart, then your starting point.
Turn it on pressing the reset at the same time or take out battery and unplug/plug the battery. Your battery may have died. If this is helpful, post as such. If it is a fixya, post as such. I had an E2, can tell you alot about it. TY
