Theft Deterrence Shield Appears Intermittently on LCD Monitor
    Affected Products: Desktop Computers
Affected Operating Systems: Not OS Dependent
ISSUE: The LCD monitor displays Gateway Theft Deterrence Shield but you have not enabled Theft Deterrence Shield. The monitor has not been moved to another computer.
RESOLUTION: Unplug the AC power from the computer at the wall outlet or shut off the surge protector. Wait 30 seconds or more before plugging in the AC power back in. This drains the memory from the monitor and resets the monitor back to factory default.

  • Rodger Hale Dec 17, 2010

The monitor has Entered Theft Deterrence mode and the image has turned to black
and white. Make sure EzTune is installed and that you are able to access the
Extras tab where you will find the Theft Deterrence option. If the Extras tab is
grayed out, then please review issue #1 to establish DDC/CI communications. Once
EzTune is installed and working, you will usually be prompted for your PIN. This
is the number you entered when you turned on the Theft Deterrence feature. If
you do not remember the PIN or did not enter one, then you will need to contact
a Gateway Customer Care Agent as instructed on the Theft Deterrence warning
    screen.

The process of disabling Theft Deterrence through the monitors
buttons cannot be done via email and must be done while you are in front of the
    monitor.

Please contact Gateway Technical Support at 800-369-1409

Or, you can go to their Live Web Chat at: https://support.gateway.com/Support/copi...

If you are still unable to turn off the Theft Deterrence, please submit
a support request by clicking on the Help > Technical Support button from
within EzTune. Please let us know that you already have already contacted a
    Gateway Customer Care Agent.

How to bypass the lock lid on a Kenmore elite washer to where the computer will think the door is locked

On newer washing machines, built within the last 10 years, you cannot bypass the lid lock. This is all monitored by the main control. Its not like the old days where you could jump out a switch. Modern machines just will not work due to heightened safety features due to the high rpms at which they spin

I dont know where to find the password can you help me ?

By default, the CLI does not require passwords. However, if someone has configured a password for the device but the password has been lost, you can regain super-user access to the device using the following procedure.
1) Start a CLI session over the serial interface to the Brocade device.
2) Reboot the device.
3) While the system is booting, before the initial system prompt appears, enter b to enter the boot monitor mode.
4) Enter no password at the prompt.
5)Enter boot system flash primary at the prompt. This command causes the device to bypass the system password check.
6) After the console prompt reappears, assign a new password.

My F22 monitor had been appear OSD locked and i don't know how to solve it. Some buddy please help me!!!

important notes
1. what is displayed on the monitor comes from the system unit
2. possible features that could be displayed on the monitor are screen savers or splash screens
3. attempting to log on a computer with a screen saver passcode could lock the system by displaying the word locked requiring unlocking

procedure of unlocking a passcode
1.Once the system locks, would require to reset the password.
2. another function could be displayed on next to the lock icon prompting unlock or reset
3. in the absence of a display of unlocking the password, continue to enter the wrong password and hiting the logon button in a space provided next to the unlock icon prompt
4. severall attempts would prompt for a reset functionality.
5. at which instance would display a password hint of what has been locked.
6. the password hint provided must be guessed correctly to allow a reset functionality.
7. once hint provided allows for reset would prompt the user to create a new password
8. create a password with a hint as a key to reseting any future locked screens.
9. the screen could be operated without a password for an alternative, only made possible during after unlocking the locked screen. instead of creating a new password and hint, choose to disable screen savers altogether.

Monitor not connecting to tower. it is plug in to the tower. but shows that it is not connected.

three things can be the issue here:

1. No signal from the tower (VIDEO CARD)
2. Bad cable or bent pin on the d-sub 9-15 pin vga connector.
3. Bad signal board inside the monitor itself.

Things to try:

1. another computer.
2. check the signal cable for bent pins.
3. check the video card in the tower.

Before you "think its a bad monitor" you always want to assume the computer first as computers are 9 times out of 10 why the monitor is not coming on such as BIOS errors, Bad video card, bad power supply etc etc.

How's the status light of your computer monitor? is it blinking amber? and the status light of your computer tower's power button? blinking amber as well or solid green or no light at all?

1. Disconnect all the connection at the back of your computer tower
2. Press the power button of the computer tower for 15 seconds
3. Reconnect the power button and the monitor cable at the back of your computer tower and turn on the computer (if it turned on that means that one of the device plugged at the back of your computer tower is faulty)
4. If still the same problem, open up your computer tower.
5. Reseat the video card, Reseat Hard drive, Reseat Memory, Reseat CPU, Reseat power cord coming from the CPU to your computer (doing all things one-by-one to pin-point the root cause of the issue)

If none of the troubleshooting steps fixed the problem, possible that the power supply is faulty and if the power supply is faulty sometimes it goes with the motherboard.

My screen is showing Self test feature check and will not stop! Help!

The first thing to check is--is your computer actually running?
It sounds like your computer is either off or it is not sending a video signal to the monitor.
If there was a signal going to the monitor, you would be seeing something other than self test.
There is also probably a menu button on the monitor. Find it and push it to reset the monitor.
Now check your computer--preferably with another monitor to see for sure what is going on.
