Question about Office Equipment & Supplies
The printer is cleaning the ink-jets / print heads by dumping ink
into a special spittoon. The self-cleaning typically occurs:
1) When you turn the printer ON
2) When you shut it OFF
3) At the start of every print job
4) At the start of every page
5) At the end of every print job
6) Periodically during the day, for no reason at all
7) Any other time the printer feels like it !!!
....
Often all the buttons including the power switch are disabled,
during this operation in order to stop you from interfering
with HP's business plan.
Should you dare to unplug the cord during a cleaning cycle,
the printer will "discipline" you by entering into 45 minute
deep cleaning cycle the next time you turn it on.
===
The idea is to waste as much ink as possible, so that you
run out and buy more, typically exceeding the original
purchase cost of the printer.
Solution:
-------------
Buy the cheapest printers you can get your hands on,
avoid vampires like HP, spend less than $50,
make sure they include a FULL cartridge of ink,
and throw the printer in the garbage when the ink
runs out. :)
Also, avoid "all in ones" like the plague,
buy a (B&W) Brother Laser Jet and a separate scanner
for most of your work. The toner will last for ever.
Use an Ink-jet for photos only, and print your photos all
at the same time, to minimize random head cleaning
cycles.
Hope this explains it,

Same Problem.... This is a new printer out of the box, but byond warranty.
Is there a clean that needs to be performed or a reset?
