Stuck in standby mode on Fisher RS-911A receiver

Does it power up or straight to standby? If it is on but in standby it could be speaker protection issues...check speaker wires and/or speakers for issues. If it's straight to standby and no power, it's repair shop time.

HI, I purchased new belts for my tapedeck (2 actually: a flat and a square one) but I don't know how to install them. The square belt is visible but I cannot find the flat one. Can you help me?

The flat belts are usually the one from the motor to the flywheel or "capstan." Most people don't realize this, but the capstan and pressure (pinch) roller is what actually drives the tape in the play mode. The reels are used to maintain tape pressure and perform rewind / fast-forward.

I have an AKAI GX-4000D reel to reel machine. It plays small 3" tapes at the right speed, but when I try and play a 7" tape, the sounds are very, very fast and I can't make out what's being...

Hello,
Yes, that seems to be your problem.

Regardless of the size of reel.
When the:
Capstan sleeve installed is 7 1/2 IPS
Capstan sleeve not installed is 3 3/4 IPS
Hope this helps.

Akai gx-646 capstan motor runs way too fast.

You must replace transistor for capstan motor speed ( transistor code is 2SC2336 ). This transistor it is near power transformer.

TEAC TV770 no play

Hi again

If it uses the same idler(i honestly cant remember now) it may still have drive in ff and rew but not in play because of the reduced torque required and much less mechanical coupling force to the drive surfaces of the idler to the reel base as a result. Cleaning idlers with acetone gets the best resuts. Takes the top layer off!! Be careful not to get it on any non greasy plastics or and external casings(will leave marks). I often use an emery board(for finger nails) to get a decent new rubber drive surface if I cannot reshod a failed idler with a new rubber tyre. Let me know how you go :)

TEAC V770 3head tape deck. Does not play. Pinch roller spindle turning. Press PLAY and heads click up,forward tape cog does not turn, heads go down. Manually turning forward still does not work. FF...

Hi saabangerman

The unit sounds like it has a take up clutch or takeup idler problem. Check all the drive assemblies in the unit. Remove the cover from the front of the transport inside the cassette well, and check the condition of the idlers and reel base drives. The counter belt can also gatherup and prevent the takeup reel from working correctly, or fire the auto stop mechanism preventing it from playing, although that sounds to be ok in this case as the unit will FF and REW ok. The takeup drive is supplied by a different drive idler as it requires much lower and more controlled torque. This unit was always considered to be a great tape deck and is well worth a bit of attention for restoration. You can get a new belt kit for $19.00 from here

I am more than happy to answer any other questions you may have about it, just give me a hoy :) Thanks for using FixYa, If you consider the advice I have given you as sound, a FixYa rating is a great reward for my efforts to help you. Cheers.

AKAI CASSETTE DECK IDLER?

I wonder if it has a counter and if so, is the belt that drives the counter too loose? Is the counter working?
