Computer crash My HP v2000 Laptop just quit working. When I turn it on it just says press esc, or F10. It does not go through the bios at all. It will eject cd/dvd's but when I put the recovery disk in, nothing happens. Do I need a new HDD or a motherboard?

Well, I am in iraq, and am using 220 power so I suppose I could have fried the AC adapter, bt the computer will still turn on under its' own power. How do I flash a bios? Nothing I press on the keyboard does anything. It's basically an electric paperweight right now

Try pressing F2 or F8 or DEL to see if enters into the bios....
and you could change the boot device priority so that you could boot from the recovery cd

i can say that your BIOS is corrupted.

HP have some kind of recovery boot disk for bios-dead laptops.

    but
I found out that all laptops with newer PHOENIX bios have

possibility to reflash bios with special boot disk - Crisis Recovery Disk.

you can also make a image recovery using floppy

so if your Laptop is of PHOENIX BIOS then please let me know. i will help you further.

Hi,
i'd say first try a known working ac adapter and if that Working AC adapter works and the system detects the battery well, then it could be the ac. If not then try to borrow a working battery to get your final conclusion. if the working battery still doesnt work properly, then it could be the system motherboard. If battery and ac adapter (working) are not available, then check the BIOS and see if it really doesnt detect the battery. try flashing the BIOS and still if that fails, then replace the battery or a new HDD or Motherboard..Hope this helps you..thank you!!..

Please try to use another battery as i suggested before because your battery might even be affected by excess power flow..if it doesnt work even then its surely ur motherboard problem for which you should take your Laptop to your nearest service centre..hope this helps you..thank you!!..

Don't press F10 while starting.
Let your laptop to start wait for 10min....
If it will not starts..........
Press F1(BIOS Settings for some pc F2 is Bois Setting)

If it will load BIOS.......... then your BIOS is OK

Then you need to change hard disk...

If not you need to change BIOS hardware(IF you i will tell you the way restore BIOS but it's very difficult task.It needs a trained person.)
