Touch screen not working

The touch screen was not working. I restarted the phone (hard restart) twice, I removed the battery and placed it back but that did not solve the problem. The light on the screen would brighten up when touched but nothing seems to work. the touch screen is not working...all of the buttons are working just not the screen. iv reset it twice and took the battery out even tried leaving it off for a day. nothing works.

Had the same or similar problem, sent back to be repaired 3 times, comes back fully functional. HTC keepsaying nothing wrong. The only connection I can make is the fault begins with a rejected phone call or has somthing to do with the phone software, as of yet I havn't found a solution.

SOURCE: touch screen not working

I found draining the battery completely and then restarting the phone after a charge was the only way to solve this without having to send to tech support. Its happened twice now and that's worked both times.

Touch scree is frozen. Buttons outside of the screen work. I am out of warranty and just two months for the ATT contract to expire.

Sounds like your out of luck and that the touchscreen is gone, id personally **** it up and wait til the contracts up, it sounds like you still have at least some functionality, try the following steps.
1. Remove Battery, Attempt to Restart phone. repeat at least twice.
2. Perform a hard/factory reset if possible without touchscreen access a. for most phones the go into your phones setting and look for a reset option. b. Follow the prompt to reset your phone to factory settings. c. Make sure to back up all you data
3. Contact a service representative of your carrier or take the device into your carriers store, most of the time they will recomend doing a hard reset as shown above, hopefully they will replace it or work a deal to upgrade your device.

Good luck, i hope you get it working.

all goes well they'll likely replace your handset,

try restarting it.... if still frozen ... open the back cover and remove the battery... replace it after 10 minutes.... start the phone.. if all is ok then fine else you can soft reset the phone ...if still not working then hard reset the phone...before you try anything back up your phone....check the manual to know how.

The touch screen keeps freezing. It has been replaced by Vodafone when it was a contract fone. Now ,that it has been passed on to my son it has frozen twice and it looks as if it is going to stay like...

Did you put the phone under a different service provider? That could be one cause ... if not, try doing a hard restart by removing the battery when the phone is on and if it has a sim card remove that as well. Then pop it back in and start it up. How long have you had it? Phones only have a 1 year warranty for a reason they don't have a high life expectancy. My touch screen went out completely today. If none of that works you will need to replace it.

I just uninstalled a work program from my phone, after I removed the usb I restarted the phone, since then my phone only gets to the screen that says "Touch Diamond" and shows the letters and numbers in...

In case the program was installed on the Storage Card, then you may try removing the storage card and then check if the phone starts? In case it doesn't you need to hard reset it.

Sidekick 3: System crash and big X, won't start up

HOW TO DO A MASTER RESET ON A SIDEKICK 3 NOTE: Performing this will restore your device back to factory defaults, meaning you'll loose everything on your sidekick!
1. Remove the battery and the SIM card from the device. 2. Flip the sidekick open; press and hold the letter 'r' on the keypad. 3. While holding the letter 'r', place the battery back in the device. DO NOT INSERT THE SIM CARD YET. 4. The sidekick will restart itself twice. Please make sure not to let the letter 'r' go until it has fully rebooted. 5. Once it has fully rebooted, remove the battery, re-insert the SIM card and battery and power up the device. 6. Once the device has fully rebooted, all prior information should be erased from the device and it should be restored back to the default factory settings.

You can also get tips & tricks from www.htcwiki.com
It has the latest and great updates, software, even known issues if you ever come across this. HTC does recommend that you do a master/hard reset once a quarter to keep it moving smoothly. Also, ensure you don't have a lot of open running programs. Perhaps once a day, clean the cashe and history. Do a soft reset (aka battery pull) once or twice a week. All depends on how hard you play with this lovely PDA device!
