Just checking up on bad advice from people. Did you at some point plug an external keyboard into your laptop? If you did all you have to do is go into your device manager and delete the drivers for the external keyboard has loaded into your laptop. Do not worry about the warnings that you are about to delete a device. When you reboot your laptop your system will getect the original keyboard as new equip and install the proper drivers for it. If you need more help send me an e-mail to geokohler@gmail.com with your number. I will call you and help you for free. I do this for a hobby, I just enjoy helping people.

George If you have resolved your keyboard problem, feel free to contact me with any other issues you may run into.

The mouse works, but the keyboard doesn't. I cannot type anything.

Simple way to confirm if it is actually a laptop keyboard failure. Plug in a USB desktop keyboard and let the drivers load. If the USB keyboard works then you have confirmed the laptop keyboard failure. Either that you can go to "start"- "all programs"-"accessories"-"ease of access" then choose "on screen keyboard". You are using Win7 I presume?

Keyboard failure

This may be an issue with your usb drivers. Update those first, then if that fails, I would try one of those adapters that goes from USB to the old school mouse and keyboard connections and plug that in to see if it works.

A single key failure on a portable is almost always a mechanical failure of the keyboard itself. The good thing is keyboards are generally cheap and easy to replace.

Sony via o my keyboard is not working.

Keyboard failures on a laptop are typically a result of a spill or food accidently spilled between the keys. Temporarily you may be able to plug in an external USB keyboard to use the laptop. To repair a keyboard requires partially taking the laptop apart. You may or may not want to do this depending on how you feel about that kind of operation. If you decide you want to do it, here's a link to doing the operation:

Be careful, be gentle and you should have no trouble with it! Best of luck!

Some keys on laptop dont work

Generally, if the keyboard has one or more bad keys, it is a hardware failure of the keyboard and the resolution is to replace the keyboard. You can find keyboards on EBay (if system is out of warranty) and the service manual can be found on support.dell.com
