Question about Refrigerators

Open Question

GE/Hotpoint fridge leaking water on floor.

The fridge is over 20 yrs. old. It is a frostfree dual sided appliance.
Leaking water from the inside (bottom ) wall on the freezer side. Not inside the freezer compartment. The water input is turned off and the water/ice maker are off. The water appears in the fridge frame track, and not in the water catcher tray. It seems to happen sporadically, like when the unit is defrosting. It seems to be inside the outer wall and the freezer wall. All hoses are intact and not leaking. A rust spot (size of a quarter) has appeared on the outside freezer side wall; about the same height from where it is leaking on the inside wall.

I ahve the same thing. 20 years+ GETFX24RF. Leak developed from what appears on the floor to be from the freezer side. ICe maker water supply turned off. Drip tray not over flowing. We never use the water or ice on the front. What is the fix? How much (ball park)? Thanks.

Water is leaking from the inside of the top part of the refrigerator. It is coming out near the switch for setting the freezer temperature.

Look for obstruction at the drain tray for the freezer. Common to have plastic wrap sucked into that area.Or gunk in the drain line. Blow through line to insure the gunk is not an issue.

Your defrost drain outlet is frozen over.
Turn off the fridge.
Remove the bottom drawers.
Look in the back section just below the back freezer panel and you will see an ice dam.
This must be defrosted. Use a hair dryer.
Once all the ice is gone pour water into the drain to make sure it is clear.
Then pour a 1/4 cup of bleach in the drain.
Turn the fridge back on and you will be OK until it happens to stop up again.

Water collecting inside fridge, under meat drawer

Yes most responses are the freezer drain even if it is in the bottom freezer. If the drain is blocked water will build up anywhere inside your refrigerator only because it has no place to go during the defrost. Defective door seals can also can make the problem much worse. GE Profile leaking onto floor

Clean the drain pan and drain line in the back of the freezer section behind the cover underneath the evaporator coil. (hint: use turkey baster with hot water) Make sure water drains when you pour it in. If it doesn't - also clean drain tube on the back of the unit behind the cover. When done - put the tube exactly where it was.
Good luck! :)

10 yr old GE side by side: freezer is leaking

Your drain is frozen up and so every time unit goes into defrost the water refreezes in the freezer's bottom. You either have to shut fridge off completely and let it dethaw or use hot water and an ice pick to hurry up the process. The drain is located in the very back of freezer. You will have to pull out the bottom drawer to see it. Good luck

GE side by side leaks water onto floor, no ice

There is a pipe that runs up the back of the appliance and feeds the ice maker , if this freezes inside then it canpush the fitting off the back of the appliance and cause water to go everywhere. Usual problem is a leaky watervalve causeing water to drip into the pipe which freezes and builds up until it is totally blocked.

Refrigerator wate leak

Usually at the bottom outside of door (near hinge) is where the waterline will become loose or crack. Otherwise, I would have to look at it.
