Where did you download the books from? If from your public library, then you need to go to Adobe Digital Editions and register your computer and ereader (with the same id). If you bought the books from the Sony Book Store, then I don't know what the issue is.

In order to authorize the Reader wit the Mac Computer, the Reader should be deauthorized from the other Computer. In order to deauthorize the Reader from the other Computer, the Reader should be connected to the Computer. However, when you will connect the Reader to the Mac Computer, it will prompt to deauthorize the Reader from the old Computer and authorize it with the Mac Computer (provided you have installed the Reader Library Software). If you didn't install the Reader Library Software, you can download it from the link: http://ebookstore.sony.com/download/ .. That should resolve the issue.
The formats of the books downloaded from the Waterstones website might not be supportd by the Sony Reader. Please transfer the compatible files to the Reader. To know about the supported files formats for the PRS505 Reader, click here.
