Dell inspiron 1525 Internet connectivity

I just purchased a dell inspiron 1525 and lately have been having some problems with my internet connectivity. When i start it up it will connect for a little while but then it will disconnect and although i have a signal from the router, it wont allow me to reconnect for a while. I have uninstalled the driver on my wireless card and installed a new one, restored factory settings, got a new modem and a new router(compatible with vista) i then contacted my isp to see if it was a problem there and they reset it, but it hasnt worked. Does anyone know what else i can do without reinstalling vista?

    you seems to be a rich person! bought new modem router etc iam from india and those thing are pretty costly here. anyways please let me know the service tag of your system also the model number and manufacturer of your router. i have worked for dell inc for 3 years! i understand your frustation at this point, might go high if you call dell tech support so be a littlebit paitent i shall try my level best to help you please let me know the service tag and router model also how many computers you have on your network and what type of network like can you transfer files over the network? is it wired or wireless network? are you using a modem-***-router or they are seperate? you have this problem in a perticular place in your home like in the kitchen or upstairs? reinstalling vista will be a waste of time dont' worry i don't think we need to do that!! if you contact your vendor the tech you speak with needs to finish the call within a specific time so will try to misguide you and the quickest resolutions from the vendor is by running the recovery "image restore" upon doing so all the information and settings are lost back to square 1 so its a nightmare at times and i shall try my level best to avoid that. and please let me know what was resetted by your isp and who are they? was the settings of the router and modem was resetted or the password???

Connect your wireless modem router Sign on to AOL. Download the AOL Easy Installer for Thomson 576 Wireless Modem Router. When prompted to save the file to a location select an appropriate place (desktop is a good example). This installer is not supported with a modem router containing beta firmware.

ok, so my problem was fixed by manually adding the ISP's DNS IP address to the setup within the router.


I also have a speedstream modem and 520-GC, but connect through AAPT, ISP shouldn't matter in this instance.


If you can't get the IP of the DNS server by calling optus, plug the ethernet cable back into the modem and one laptop, and find it in the web-based modem config (


unplug the ethernet cable from your modem/laptop and back into the router. enter the web-config of the router (usually, 'Finish' 'save and restart'.


once restarted, you will likely need to restart all computers. if this still doesn't work, command prompt on each computer and type ipconfig /registerdns.


hopefully this will solve it completely.

hmmm...only thing that makes sense here is that your dSL is unhappy...did you check that phone line into the modem? that's what the internet light means when it's out, actually..if its not the line, then it's the modem..

not much else that is off on this.

First thing as ur able to access internet using ethernet cable, that indicates that ur router is fine. Now, also as u mentioned signal strength is excellent still its not getting connected, what u have to do is : click start then run type cmd and press enter it will open up command prompt or if ur using vista then click start >all programs> click accessories>right click command prompt>click run as administrator it will take u to the command prompt screen there  type ipconfig and press enter and check what is the ip address if ip address is like 169.254.----- then that it indicates that ur comp and router are not able to communicate wirelessly u have o set up a new wireless network. and if ip address is like and default gateway is then u don't require to setup a new connection  now in any case run this following command on the same command prompt window netsh int ip reset reset.log and press enter and then run this command netsh winsock reset catalog press enter it will ask u to restart and then restart the laptop after that try connecting if still not able to access internet then connect ethernet cable open internet explorer type in this address and press enter it will ask for username and password that is admin and password respectively and it will take u to netgear settings  and from there setup a new wireles network......... try this if not able to do so revert to me.

Your Internet Service Provider will have provided a DSL-adapter to you.
Connect one 4-wire cable from the adapter to the telephone wall-jack.

Can I download modem on dell laptop

Most of the time on laptops if there is no phone input for a modem you cannot just plug in and dial up. The process i use at home for my pc is dialing through my cell phone. If your carrier will allow you to tether your phone without extra charges check your phone manufacturers website for modem software. You then just connect your phone through a usb cable and set a internet connection matching your carriers instructions. Another solution is dificult without networking knowledge but you can set up a home pc with a wireless antennae as a ad-hoc server through internet connection sharing and then allow your laptop to connect through the "server" pc.

Trying to connect internet and having problems.

You have probably not installed the drivers required for the wireless adapter. Go to Dell website and search for your model's drivers. Look for wireless adapter drivers.
Please also check that your wireless adapter is on. Some laptops have a switch on the front side of the laptop to turn the wireless on or off. On other laptops is the combination of the Fn key and one of the F1-12 keys.

Unable to connect to internet

well !! according to me you've got a programming problem in your modem due to electricity fluctuation so , to solve this check if u hv a user manual of your modem ... if u have then its really good...

u will find a re-programming isp code ...

now to solve this first switch your modem on then go to any browser and type in the isp code there which is somewhat like " " etc.

type that in the address bar and click enter ..
find the reboot option in the menu and click it..
your modem will reboot and then your internet will start working again !!

now just connect to internet via your default connection ....
your problem is solved....
