, replace CMOS battery, reboot, open BIOS, Set time ONLY. Save and reboot. That begs the question, Why change the BIOS setup?

What about the CMOS?

Remove the Power Cord, remove the Case, turn computer onits side so you can see inside (you might need a flashlight). Remove theCMOS Battery which is a silver battery about the of a nickel that is onthe motherboard. You will need a flathead screw driver to pop it out. Leaveit out for an hour or two and then put it back and reboot the computer. When you reboot you will have to go into theBios or System Setup because the computer will have forgotten the date, timeand bios password. If the Bios Password is not reset then read your user manual. There might be a jumper you have to short with a screwdriver or by removing a pin on the motherboard.

When I reboot the PC the display doesnt come back on. To get around the error, I can clear the CMOS by Shorting Bat jumper, then loading optimized settings by hitting F2. But it wont restart if I try and...

Your BIOS settings are not corrupted. The CMOS cell is not memorizing your settings after you reboot it. So you must change the CMOS battery. My humble request to buy a qualitative CMOS battery so that battery can work as guarantee. Thanks for using FixYa.

I would like to reboot my emachine desk top computer but when i put the cd that comes with it its just giving me the user guide menu but not how to reboot the computer

Reboot is nothing but restart. So if you wish to reboot your computer then just shut it down and restart it. You don't need any CD for that.

If your system isn't shutting down, you can turn it off directly. But it is not recommended to do often, as it could damage your Windows and may also damage your hard drive.
However, yes, if you want to reinstall the Windows then you would require the CD. If this is the case then please let me know through comment, else rate.

My msi u100 mini laptop won't reboot

When you encounter this kind of problem you need to check directly to the HDD. This is an HDD problem which the cable are not good. Try to change the SATA or IDE cable. Or you may reset the CMOS jumper you can see the CMOS jumper near the CMOS battery. Good luck!

Needs factory reset or master reboot

your question is very basic.
if you need to master reset the system to it,s bios default settings.
remove the power, remove the left hand side panel. locate the cmos battery.
remove the battery for 10 seconds, then replace it. replace power lead and reboot.
if you get a message stating cmos settings incorrect, enter bios setup. change time/date settings.
save and exit. Problem Solved.
