ASUS P5VDC-MX Mother board with a 1GB DDR2 667 MHz RAM

Ive installed a 1 GB DDR2 RAM (667 MHz) on my asus p5vdc-mx motherboard. From the motherboard's specs, i was shocked to see that the supported RAM Speeds are only up to 533MHz. What problems will i encounter if i stick to this type of RAM? Do i need to replace it with a 533 MHz? I haven't really encountered big problems yet. I'm just worried I will have one soon...

It works fine, but it shows only 512MB in your BIOS even if u install 1GB, there're no other probs., Updating BIOS might solve the prob.

You can install 1 gig sticks, 2 gig will not work. You should be able to install most 667 sticks, but they will only run at 533.

Can asus p5vdcmx motherboard support 1 gb ddr2 pc533 ram?

Quick way to find out is go to www.crucial.com and click "Scan My System" if the motherboard is actually up and running on a PC. If not you can select the manufacturer of the board and which board it is and it should tell you exactly what you need!

Hi, i want to install on my mother card "asus p5vdc-mx" one ram at 1 gigabit and another ram at 2 gigabit. (kingston) it's possible???

Only if they are in non-parallel sockets - i.e. slot 1 and 3 in a 4 place MB. If there are only 2 slots, then the 2 sticks need to match.

1gb shows 512mb only

Your mobo is quite old and its chipset can only support a maximum of 512MB PER SIDE (technically called a bank) of a memory module. I would guess that your 1gb memory module has 8 chips that are all located on one side of the module, putting all of the 1 GB on one bank. Thus, only 512MB of your 1 gb RAM is detected and usable by your motherboard (the remaining 32 mb is most likely being used by your onboard video). You'll need to find a double sided 1 gb memory module (usually 8 chips on each side).
