HP pavilion wireless uninstalled itself

My laptop, an HP pavilion dv6000, just stopped picking up networks this weekend. It says the driver is not installed.

I bought my laptop just over a year ago so my warranty i would suppose is out, is there anything i can do?

I did a system revert to like 2 days before it happened, and that didn't help, and then i did a system recovery thing and got everything back to factory setting and whatnot. After i updated all the software the driver installed and worked fine for the night, but the next day i started my system up again and once again i can not pick up an signals. Why is my driver uninstalling itself?

I have the exact same issue with a wireless card. Most likely the card is bad. The driver is not uninstalling itself, it simply can't see the hardware and is therefore not listed. Change out the card, and it should resolve the issue.

Yes, you can replace it. It is not as easy as, say, replacing the battery, as the back has to be taken off. However, I have an HP laptop with the exact same issue, and had looked at the instructions, as this issue had been going on pretty much forever...

The manual for your machine (dv6000) is athttp://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01... If you will look at page 119 of the document (labeled 5-3, section 5.2) you will find reference to the wireless (mini-card) module. The actual replacement part numbers and instructions begin on page 132 (labeled 5-16, section 5.8).

Basically, the wireless card is in a separately designated section of the notebook along with the memory, which is easier to get to than other core parts, for this very reason - that replacement is more frequently needed and should be more accessible to the user. However, if you don't feel comfortable doing this on your own after reviewing, I would suggest taking it to a repair shop. It's best to do only what you are comfortable with!

Wireless network card

Hi there.
The wireless switch on the front bottom of the laptop, it's suppose to be blue when the button is on the right.
Right click on computer and select manage, go to device manager, and go to Network Adapters, try to see a network adapter called Broadcom, if it doesn't appear, it means that your computer doesn't recognize the wireless card and you may have to reinstall the drivers.
Please let me know how you get on.

Good luck

Wireless adapter is not working.

Go to the HP website and get the latest version of the driver for the wireless adapter. Then got to Start---->Control Panel--->Add/Remove programs and unistall the current driver. Then got to the System folder in the Control Panel. Go to the device manager tab and go down the list until you find network adapters. Left click the x beside the name and left click on the wireless and it should turn blue. Right click and choose uninstall. Then reboot the computer. If the device is still working the computer should find the "new hardware" as windows loads. Then when it asks for the device use the new driver to install it.

You can also initiate an online chat with HP support if you have more specific questions in regard to how to pursue this replacement, or if they may have specific suggestions regarding the proper / best card to use to replace what you have.
