Question about Gateway PC Desktops

1 Answer

My notebook does not recognize any devices that are plugged into the usb ports, sd card, mp 3, or flashdrive, says there's not driver available, to contact manufacturer of device, or install driver. I don't know how to resolve the problem, but I would like to use my devices. I am a college student with a computer that only surfs the net, and creates documents.....

That's what you should do then, go to the device manufacturer’s website and see if they have drivers. It most cases they do for vista, xp, 2000, 98se. If you install drivers and they still are not recognized and no other USB device works either, then you might have bad USB ports and that sometimes means new mother board.

Yield sign usb mass storage device

Ah yes the famous error for usb. Cant identify the device, Normally this just needs a driver update or try and unplug wait a few seconds and plug back in. If updating driver fails uninstall that usb shut down unit wait 10 sec restart and it should be ok.Unfortunately I have noticed that usb devices all seem to get this at least once . From Mp3 players to flashdrivers even had a keyboard it happened with, Sometime it depends on the usb port whether usb 1.x 2.x or 3.x but then it can be what OS you're using. Various reasons.
If using device manager finds no update try using SlimDrivers Free

I have a Quantaray SD card reader, I put a SD card in it and it doesn't work. I guess I need a driver or software in my Windows 7

Are you sure it's an SD card? If it's larger than 2GB then it's actually an SDHC card and won't work in devices designed only for SD cards.

Digital media manager with t6426

Which operating system ?

What happens when you tried to plug-in SD card to the computer?

Have you made any recent changes to the computer prior to the issue?

To make the SDHC be recognized by the computer, we need to ensure that the card reader works in Windows 7 first. Please check if the card reader is recognized properly by the computer and you have installed the driver for it.

Meanwhile, you can plug some other storage cards to the card reader and see how it works.

I would suggest you to refer the link below
A Secure Digital (SD) card may not be recognized on a Windows 7 based computer.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/981642

Uninstall all the Generic USB drivers and reinstall.

1. Open Device Manager.

2. In "Disk Drives" dropdown, uninstall the "Generic SD/MMC USB device" drive.

3. Restart computer.

4. Insert SDHC card.

Hope this helps.

Acer aspire t 180 cant get pc to recognize digital camera photo memory card

Has the computer recognized the memory card in the past? If so, try download and reinstalling the memory card driver.

Get online and got to www.google.com In the google search box type: "Acer Support" (without the quotes and put your manufacturer name before Support). Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operating system when requested. Download and install the Card Reader drivers.

If after installing the drivers the reader still does not work, you can purchase a multi format card reader that will plug into you usb port from Tiger Direct for less than $15. at

http://www.tigerdirect.com

When the site comes up just put in the search at the top "SD Card Reader or XD Card Reader" depending you your type and press GO. You can sort the returned results by Price Low to High.

Do you have a USB Cable that came with the camera that you can plug into one of the usb ports on the computer? If so, try that. It's another way of getting pictures off the camera. Plug the cable on the camera and into the computer then turn the camera on. The computer will recognize the camera and install the drivers. You can navigate through the camera folders just like you do any other device to find the pictures.

The driver for the SD card slot may not be installed.
The other option is to insert your SD card into a USB card reader and then connect it to the USB port on the computer. This computer will see this as an external USB storage device and then you can copy and paste the images into the computer.

Gateway USB ports stopped working

So maybe you need to install the drivers for the USB device you are trying to connect. Also, with the computer off, try cleaning all USB ports and plugs. You can buy electrical cleaner in a spray can at Radio Shack. Let it dry thoroughly before powering up. But to me it sounds like a driver problem. Unless maybe your USB BUS is going bad.
