Greetings Pete - No, your display is what is called HDTV ready, meaning it needs a separate tuner AKA set top box.

You need to get the cable box, plug in the component video cables into your TV (usually provided) and plug in audio cables and you're viewing HDTV. See below:

What kind of cable are you using to connect it with (coax, HDMI, RCA (composite), component, s-video)?
This may be a grounding problem. Either the cable from the satellite dish is grounded to something with a little electricity running through it or you may have a hot ground in your electrical outlet. Or the cable may be on a different ground than your electrical outlet and by connecting the two it has created a slight electrical current. You can try using a plug adaptor to remove your receiver from the electrical outlet ground. These adaptors are meant for older homes and electrical outlets that do not have a third hole or ground plug. The outer metal part of all video connectors is the ground and this may be causing the tv to act strangely.

I hope this works.

No Signal from cable setting.

check settings on your source...make sure you are not plugging into a DVI/HDMI port on your TV unless you are in fact converting from DVI to HDMI (there a connector to buy) if thats not it replace the cable with a different one. There are several varities of HDMI cable and the signal is faster as you increase in price normally. I have Monster cables that work Perfectly....I would also check TV settings on the port you are plugging into and try a different one to see if the result is the same. If the result is the same you may have a bad source. Always rule out the cable too.

My memorex mltd3222 will turn on for a split second and when the memorex logo comes up, the screen goes out

I don't have a permanent fix, but I do have a work around:

The problem appears to be some sort of "loose connection" associated with either the power plug or how the back of the TV is mounted to the front. Try the power plug first: we unplugged/plugged the plug from the back of the TV (i.e. not the wall) multiple times, jiggling it around a bit each time we plugged it in, and did so until we didn't hear the "pop/click" (i.e. the sound we've come to associate with the problem)... Voila! It started working again.

If that doesn't work, try removing all the screws from the entire back panel, moving the back panel up/off a bit (but completely removing, and being careful not to disturb any of the connections to the DVD player, etc.), and then do the unplug/plug thing. We're guessing that moving the back panel around is essentially facilitating the unplug/plug thing.

Our repairman discovered this when he tried to fix it the first time. He removed the back panel but then the TV immediately started working, so he couldn't determine what the actual problem was. He gave it back to us, and it worked for a few months and then the problem came back. We did the panel/unplug/plug thing and it started working again.

Hope this helps!!
