Question about GALAXY Microsystems 63702 Top Freezer Refrigerator

1 Answer

Leaking refrigerator I'm sure it has something to do with the drip "pan" but I can't be sure about it. Is the drip pan a smallish plastic bucket like thing located on the bottom left hand side in the back of the refrigerator? Is this a typical problem?

  • if the drip pan is not cracked or overflowing then it could be that the drain tube that goes to the pan is clogged.
  •  a good thorough cleaning of the freezer should help.
  • also pour a little hot water in the back of the freezer (i take the refrigerator outside and blast it with a hose, but thats just me), this will hopefully melt any ice buildup that may be causing the problem.
  • the tube sometimes runs on the outside of the refrigerator along the back.
  •  either way the tube goes from the bottom of the freezer to the drip pan.
  •  let me know how if you need more help.

What would cause my ice maker to leak into the plastic ice bucket?

The most likely cause is the fill valve is leaking and causing the ice maker to overfill. Try a new fill valve. Usually located on the rear of the appliance. (where you hook the water line to).

How do i remove a drip pan from a kenmore refrigerator

The drip pan collects water when the freezer goes into a defrost cycle. Most times there is very little water and the water evaporates quickly. When there is a problem with the freezer or the water does not evaporate between defrost cycles, the drip pan fills with water. If the front bottom of your refrigerator has a grille, you access the drip pan from the front. If there is no grille, access the drip pan from the rear.

Instructions
Rear Access

1 Unplug the refrigerator from the wall outlet. Pull the refrigerator away from the wall so that you can access the rear of the refrigerator.

2 Look under the refrigerator with a flashlight and locate the drip pan. Often when people install refrigerators they neglect to pull the packing from around the drip pan. The drip pan may have tape or styrofoam around it.

3 Remove any packing material away from the drip pan and pull the drip pan out from under the refrigerator.

Front Access

4 Pull the grille at the bottom of the refrigerator below the refrigerator door with your fingers. The grille secures to the refrigerator with plastic clips.

5 Remove any debris from the access area and throw the debris in the trash. The coils and fan under the refrigerator attract dust and dirt. Clean out the area with a lint brush if you have one.

6 Pull the drip pan out from under the refrigerator.

I had a similar problem with my Whirlpool model 6ED25DQFW side by side refrigerator/freezer with ice maker/water dispenser. Water was slowly pooling under the refrigerator under the freezer section. The defrost drain pipe was not blocked, the condenser fan was running, the drip pan was not leaking.
The source of the leak was found to be the icemaker solenoid block plastic body which had a pinhole leak.
To fix requires either plastic welding, or replacement of the solenoid block plastic body.
To access the solenoid block firstly requires removal of the cardboard cover, located at the lower rear of the refrigerator.

Where is the pan where the water drip into

Hi, well the pan you are referring to is called the "drip pan" pretty clever huh?lol well this is located underneath the unit most commonly under the freezer side towards the back. To find it you can pull the fridge out from the wall and unplug it. Then remove the cover panel for the compressor and sealed system. When you remove this panel you will be able to see the drip pan under the freezer. Im assuming you are needing to find this because it is leaking. That is a very common problem due to the pans being made out of plastic and being exposed to temperature changes will sometime cause it to crack. I hope this helped you in any way. Please give some feedback.

Water is leaking from under the refrigerator. I turned orr the ice maker but it has not stopped leaking-maybe worse

Hello and Welcome to FixYa!
Actually the leaking water is from the evaporator coil unit.... Under normal conditions,Self-defrost refrigerators usually dispose the water generated during the defrost cycle through a tube or channel that directs the water a pan (Known as Drip pan), commonly below the refrigerator unit.... The channel or tube is clogged and the water is leaking to the refrigerator unit, so you need to clear that contamination....Once the blockage is removed, the generated water will move through that channel/tube directly to the drip pan and there will no water on the top shelf in the refrigerator compartment. Another cause may be the refrigerator may have doorframe heaters to evaporate any condensation on the cabinet frame. If your refrigerator is equipped with a switch inside that says "energy saver" or something like that, while running in that mode the door heaters are disabled. Turn the switch to the opposite setting and wait 24 hours. If the water disappears the problem is solved.

Best of Luck,

Freezer leaking into fridge , is there a drip pan? how to defrost properly.

Yes there is a drip pan. I would first make sure the door is closing all the way. Also check the door gasket for rips. This will let in excessive moisture filling the drip pan too fast. I've been going on lots of these call lately. Best of luck!

Icemaker leaking causing icicles

Is it overfilling with water? If so, it may be an problem with the fill valve leaking slightly. I say slightly because if it were a large leak, the freezer would have frozen puddles in it. Also check the water chute to be sure the water is all going into the freeze tray. Sometimes they can work loose.

If the seam is leaking, there could be a crack in the housing - not sure that's repairable - sometimes epoxy will work (5 minute, 2 part) but it can be difficult for glue to hold on the type of plastic used in an ise maker housing.
