I have checked the signal from the cable to the TV by connecting to another TV and get a clear picture. Also I get the same message 'Invalid Mode' when I connect the DVD player or VHS to the other input options such as S-video, AV-1, AV-2, and AV-3 etc. to the DS204D-S26 TV.

  • kanaga Jul 01, 2008

I have already tried the options you suggest and still get the same 'invalid mode' message. I tried connecting ONLY one source of input at a time: cable, DVD and VHS with no change. Please tell me what invalid mode means and why is this not addressed or even mentioned in the User's Manual?

  • kanaga Jul 01, 2008

Ihave tried what you suggest - same result. The message alternates from 'invalid mode' to the 'S-video. sub VGA. Also the on signal indicator at the right bottom of the set is amber in color not green like it used to be when the set was functioning properly before this happened almost suddenly on day while watching TV.

  • kanaga Jul 01, 2008

I have tried EXACTLY what you four geniuses have suggested. The TV has not been working for over 2 months. So I have done all the possible solutions that you have given many times. Besides, I wrote to SOVA., Addison, Texas and have not heard from them yet. I seems like you experts are incapable of fixing this problem. Next you probably will tell me to buy a new TV. Please try to keep in mind that this is an expensive set and I really would like it fixed. Thank you.

Let me re-try all the various posssible solutions again and get back to you in a couple of days.

Digital Video Decoder the LSI device that decodes NTSC or PAL analog video signals into YCbCr and RGB digital data may be faulty.
Better take it to an authorized TV service station to test its functionality.

Hi,

Initially, have you tried a full hard reset? If not, pls unplug from the mains. Most current devices would reset and revert back to factory default settings (assuming no internal hardware fault) when unplugged for a considerable period of time (from a few minutes to a couple of hours). Of course doing a hard reset erases all glitches as well as user settings and configurations.

Pls post back for any development(s) or even the lack of it.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

    Hi again,

To my knowledge, the message "Invalid Mode" refers to a function that your TV is trying to enable but since it is not part of its regular features, the system has frozen. Hence my suggestion of a reset. It appears that you have a firmware glitch. This could have been brought about by an accidental pressing of a combinations of keys in your remote or simply, the firmware acted up.

If the reset for hours (or even overnight) was not corrective, then perhaps your TV would require a firmware update/flash and which can only be done at an authorized service center.

I need the remote that fit this tv

Hello

Buy one UF4-200C Four In one Cable TV remote control of US electronics. Your Proscan TV is listed it its codes. The code is
125

Setting up Your Remote

The UF4-200C is already programmed to control Motorola (formerly) General Instrument DCT1000,

DCT1200, and DCT2000 cable boxes. To control another device, look for the list of manufacturers'

three-digit codes for the device type in the Television Codes, VCR Codes sections, or Cable and Aux
Codes sections, then perform the following steps.

On the remote control, press and hold the appropriate mode key until the four mode

keys flash twice. The mode key will continue to flash.

Enter the three-digit code.

After you press the first digit, the mode key should light and stay on. After you press

the last digit, the mode key should flash three times and turn off.

If the mode key does not flash three times before turning off, the code is invalid for

this device type. Repeat the procedure with another device code.

Point the remote at the device and press POWER. If the device turns on or off, you

have finished programming.

If you have tried all the codes listed for the manufacturer and the device does not
respond, refer to the CodeScan™ section later in this manual.

More details are available with its manual you get with it.
OK.

My tv shows invalid mode when hooked to my

Active resolution of your tv is1280x720. You have to adjust the resolution in the graphic properties on your pc . Just keep tweaking it till you find one that works with your tv. I would start at max resolution (1280x720) then work my way down. Let me know what happens.

It high definition digital signal. You will need a HD cable not a vga (that is analog).
Check in you tv manual. It should give you options of what cable to use. May need the HDMI cable.

No Picture. Sound is OK!

That type of problem is becoming all too common with plasma and lcd flat screens 32" and above. There are two boards inside the plasma tvs that are called the y-sus and z-sus boards. From my experience the z-board has been the most problem producer with that no picture and sound ok problem. However, the one issue here is that the power to the to the y board goes through the z board. Most techs I know recommend replacing both. The reasoning being that whatever caused one to go bad would also weaken in some way the other. I am not fond of this type of thinking but since I do not have the tv in hand to take signal and voltage measurements I would start with the z board. On the internet you can probably find those boards and through e bay at a good price. They are not hard to spot once you take the back cover off the tv. The y board is usually on the left and the z board on the right. They have like 6 to 8 screws holding them in and three or four connectors that are keyed so you cannot plug them back in wrong. They are also clealy marked on the board itself and usually with a white sticker of some sort. New these boards can cost from $100 to $200 depending on the source. Shopping around you can find it worth fixing in my opinion if you can replace the board your self. Always disconnect all power when you take that cover off. Good luck and God bless. Roberto

Invalid format message when trying to use the RGB(PC) port

Honestly, that sounds like one of two things happened. Either the resolution of your computer video card changed or (I'm not sure with your specific TV) the TV's resolution changed.
If through the TV menus you can adjust PC resolution, I would try changing the resolutions. In the LG 47LB5DF TV, press Menu, then go to Picture, then go down to Screen. On the screen menu, you will see Resolution, Position, Size, Phase, and Reset. First try adjusting the Resolution to some of the options you see. If that doesn't work, try to reset the screen settings.
If adjusting those settings on your TV does not help, then you will have to change the resolution through the computer. Try connecting a monitor to the computer. If you get a picture through the monitor, on the desktop right click and select Properties. If using XP go to the setting tab, if using Vista/7, select Display Settings. Lower the resolution to something you think the TV will be able to handle, then connect the PC to the TV again. If you are using an HDMI connection to the TV, you may have to turn off the computer, connect the cable, then turn the computer back on with the TV on the correct input.
If the monitor doesn't show the picture or if you don't have another monitor, you can try adjusting the picture in safe mode, by pressing F8 after you press the power button, before you see the Windows loading screen. Press if multiple times if necessary. You should see a screen that gives you a few startup options. Select Safe Mode. After Windows boots up, you should still see the screen as the resolution would have been reduced. From there try changing your display settings.
Hopefully that info has helped. I noticed that you asked this question 2yrs ago, so I hope you have already figured out how to fix your problem. I simply wished to post this in case it would help you or anyone else had a similar problem. Good luck and take care.
