I have the exact same problem. I have been very careful with my camera, have not dropped it, and am surprised that it is malfunctioning in a mechanical way such as this. I have tried gently pressing on the edge of the shutter and wiggling it in order to dislodge any possible specks that might have lodged in the edges, but it doesn't even wiggle.
    Has anyone solved this yet?

It is defective. Call 800 730 6597 and we will replace it if it is still in warranty.

When I turn on the camera, Lens error shows up on

Try jiggling the lens. Use compressed air to blow out any grit around the lens barrel. If that doesn't do it, you'll need to get the camera serviced.

Lens Error

Hey Joy_2008,
A lens error usually means something is obstructing the movement of the lens (i.e. sand). You could try blowing compressed air into the side of the lens to try and dislodge whatever is stuck in the lens. You could also try placing the camera on a flat surface with the lens pointed up. While holding the shutter button in turn on the camera. What this sometimes does is force the lens to move before the camera shuts down, and when the lens moves hopefully it will dislodge whatever is stuck. If none of this works I would have the camera looked at by an authorized service technician. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan

It says lens error

its probably broken but the black slides that cover the lens if you play with it alot or push them in when the camera's turned off the lens mess up or if you've dropped the camera too much the lens break on the inside.
