Question about Apple iMac G4 Desktop

Upgrading MAC G4's video

I have a Mac G4 350 Mhz computer. My question is this. Am I able to install or upgrade my video, as it is currently not enough for iMovie. In addition, it does not even recognize my video camera. I just wanted to do some simple home video projects of my family. Any suggestion other than buying a newer Mac?

You can upgrade RAM & Video card in it, also download all the latest updates for everything. Then find the driver online for your particular video camera and download and install it. Then the MAC should pick up the camera and have the ability to to go that extra mile for you.

Your best bet beyond maxing out memory will be upgrading to an SSD. Depending on your operating system and versions of installed software, try using a program like XSlimmer to remove any powerpc files included in universal bundles.

It is possible you have a power supply failure. My MDD was doing the same thing unless I reset the PMU. There is a tutorial here on checking the PS - D275729F-09DA-4FBB-96B3-BEEEB2C04619.html It for a MDD, but I would think it would be useful for your situation.

How do I install osx 4 on my G4?

I will assume you are talking about 10.4. You will probably need to install 10.3 first and then use an upgrade CD to get 10.4 installed. I would not install a system higher than 10.4 on this system.

Leopard won't install

Found this on the net:
http://www.brad-x.com/2007/10/27/howto-leopard-install-with-giga-designs-g4-upgrade/

Those upgrade cards always have given me a problem with migrating to Leopard. If you can upgrade to a used G5 or even Intel basd mac you might be more happier with less hassle.
