Upgrading MAC G4's video

I have a Mac G4 350 Mhz computer. My question is this. Am I able to install or upgrade my video, as it is currently not enough for iMovie. In addition, it does not even recognize my video camera. I just wanted to do some simple home video projects of my family. Any suggestion other than buying a newer Mac?

You can upgrade RAM & Video card in it, also download all the latest updates for everything. Then find the driver online for your particular video camera and download and install it. Then the MAC should pick up the camera and have the ability to to go that extra mile for you.

I have the latest iPod Touch and an old G4 Mac how do i update iTunes on Mac? Is this possible?

I am afraid the latest iTunes version will not run in your G4, also it is not possible to upgrade your G4 to one of the supporting operating system versions.

Macintosh System Requirements

  • Mac computer with an Intel Core processor
  • OS X version 10.6.8 or later
  • 400MB of available disk space
  • Broadband Internet connection to use the iTunes

Alex

Hi Bobby
You will need to get an OS X installation DVD. Try eBay.Don't go for anything lower than 10.4 (Tiger)10.5 (Leopard) and 10.6 (Snow Leopard) should run fine on this machine.Don't bother with 10.7 or 10.8

Can I upgrade my processor from 667 mhz to 867 mhz on my powerbook g4?

The short answer is no, because it is soldered to the motherboard. Third party companies have offered processor upgrades for certain machines. In my opinion, they tend to be very expensive and not very effective. It's usually more efficient to buy a faster computer.

I don't know if these companies are still in business. Here's a website to check out:

http://daystartechnology.com/Apple_Mac_Products/XLR8_Macintosh_Products/Mac_CPU_G4_Upgrade_PowerBook_Titanium_PS.html

Check to make sure it is compatible with your PowerBook, and check the Better Business Bureau to make sure the company(ies) is/are still viable.

Asant? Talk compatibility with Mac OS 10.5.5

This is for system 10.5.x:
1. Delete that printer from your list of printers in System Preferences.
2. Make sure your computer, printer, and Asante box are all hooked up together and turned on.
3. Click + under the list of printers in System Preferences.
4. Click AppleTalk icon in top row of dialogue box that appears.
5. After a moment, click Bluetooth icon instead.
6. After a moment, unplug the power cord from your Asante box (but not from the electrical outlet).
7. After a moment, re-plug the power cord into your Asante box and, as soon as possible after the "TX" light comes on, click the AppleTalk icon again.
8. Within a few moments, your printer's name should appear. Highlight its name, then make sure all the information about it that appears is correct, then click "Add."
9. Everything should communicate beautifully. I had no further problems.

Upgrading from MAC OS 10.4 to OS 10.5

Apple has a list of specs to run it. Looks like yours falls within it. Although some things will need other requirements like a webcam for photobooth or ichat. But you should be able to get by. Might be a bit slower than some Macs running it, but as long as you don't have 20 things going on at once, you should be fine. Go to an Apple store and try it out first though to make sure you like it.
