You can try to replace the face if it dosen't cost too much. Otherwise you can replace the radio with the same brand radio that has the same wiring harness. You would need to ask around at your local car audio shop. Or search online. Brand names tend to keep the same plug that plugs into thier radios for a few years time but it's not a standard.
If the harness is the same you can pull out the old radio and plug in the new one with ease.

I have a aiwa CDC x227 car stereo. Have it hooked up, had sound until I accidentally hit the face plate button. Since then I have no sound. Any suggestions on how to get the sound back?

hi, you may have caused an upset to the data flow from face to main pc board. try disconnecting the unit from the vehicle for a day, then reconnect it the next day. or find the reset procedure for your unit, it will either be a small micoswitch behind the face, or a sequence of holding down some switches to activate the reset function. if the problem persists then the unit mite have a cracked main pc board, a faulty face unit, or the mute function is continuously running. to solve these faults you will have to consult with a technician.

I was setting the stations after I had to disconnect the battery cables when doing so all the buttons on the stereo wouldn't work. Is there a fix to this?

You didn't say what brand or model number, so specific help is impossible.
However, try resetting the stereo. Either on the faceplate or under it (if it is detachable) you will find either a very tiny indented button or a very tiny hole. These are reset buttons (you may need to use a paper clip to press them. Try that and report back.

Lost face plate

Best bet, get the model number off the back of the unit and type it into Ebay. Theres tons of faceplates on ebay. Probably stolen, but you might find what you need.

Don't know what faceplate to buy for Kenwood Stereo SER# r8188309

So if i understand your question correctly, you still have the stereo in your dash, but the face has been stolen, is this correct, Because if this is the case you can remove the rest of the stereo from the dash and somewhere on this unit it will tell you what model it is.

Had the face stolen off Alpine CDA-9847! Will another model fit this unit? If not where can I buy just the face (Halfords want £95!)

Had a quick look on Ebay, there is only one bieng sold. Do a search for item number 330262508262

Its located in America, just to be on the safe side ask the seller a question to see if he will send to the UK.

The alternatives is to pay what halfords is asking or buy a new stereo.

Hope this helps

Stereo issues

I'm assuming that you installed the head-unit new and that the faceplate did (at one time) previously slide down the way it was intended to work - is this assumption correct?

Is the molding around the head faceplate (mounting ring) damaged?

Are you sure you're not using the semi-permanent mounting configuration??
(see page 6 of the manual)

This particular unit has the option for a semi-permanent mounting of the face plate. If the two screws are inserted into the sides, it will lock the face plate in to the head unit (have you done that?) - if so, removing the screws will allow the face plate to be removed.

Detachable face plate for DEHP47DH on and off buttons and other function buttons not working.

make sure the connections are clean on face plate and base make sure no grease or anything like that failing this then contact the makers or even place of purchase usually as long as you have the face plate and the whole unit they will replace the face for free but you might need to show them both as stolen ones people were getting the face for free so they stopped this so get in touch with makers or even place of purchase they should replace for you.

How old is device?

Have you tried pushing the face in whilst pressing it on further just in case the connections are not touching.

Do any buttons work?
