I have Acer TravelMate 4730 laptop. Recently the battery started showing red cross and pop-up as "battery needs replacement". I had discharged completely till the laptop switch off and recharged and it worked but again i got the prompt after 4 days. Please advise if i need to replace the battery and how much does it cost. battery p/n is GARDA31

I am afraid to say that the battery may need replacement, the replacement of cells in battery may also works but it is not recommended, you can get an idea of price of battery from this web site

Are you comfortable with playing around in the BIOS? You should find it under the boot sequence options. BIOSes tend to be a little different from machine to machine so I cant really point you in a specific direction. Maybe someone else has more familiarity with this model.

Hwo do i reset the password on an acer aspire model # 4730-4516 so i can get into my computer?
At start up tapping F8 at the booting and select the password option and reset it.

The CMOS battery need to open the laptop from the backside remove and replace for 3 minutes. This will reset your bios password.

How we remove battery from back of the acer laptop model no: aspire 4736z
I've included a link showing a picture of the battery location and the latch used to pop it open for removal. Click the link below to view the diagram and look at items 1 and 2, those are the battery bay and release latch. Slide the latch to one side to pop up the battery and then pull it out to remove.
