Question about Sanyo PLV-Z4 Multimedia Projectors
I've replaced the bulb, but the Lamp Replacement Light still comes on at start-up and the projector shuts down.
Just had the same problem. Based on other suggestions on here I tried resetting the overheat switch, and IT WORKED!
So, you have to pull the 6 screws (one of them is shorter than the rest, remember where it goes) that hold the top on the projector. 3 are on the back, 3 on the bottom - look for the arrows next to the screws.
Put the projector on it's feet, and pull off the top. The button wires will still be connected, so just hold onto the top and find the black circle/shaft above where the lamp is. The shaft has white paint on the top/tip of it. Push it down with a light amount of force. You should hear/feel it click.
Put top back on, put screws in, and you should be good to go.
Don't forget to reset the lamp replacement counter in the menus.

We have a Sanyo PLC-XE40 short throw projector that came with Promethean ActivBoard for a classroom. One day it just stopped working, we cleaned the filter replaced the bulb but it wouldnt power up. We called Sanyo and they wanted it shipped to them to reset the overheat switch. I asked them why we couldnt doit ourselves and they said it was a complicated process but if we had more than 20 projectors then they would be able to tell us how to reset it over the phone. So that got me thinking if they can doit over the phone why not crack it open and check it out, and what do you know I found the overheat switch which has been tripped between two motherboards around the lamp area. I reached in there with a small flathead screwdriver and reset the switch. Put everything together and it powered right up. Didnt have to replace a $400 bulb or send it off to Sanyo and not know when we would get it back. So the complicated trick is to take it apart and press a button. I've also asked Sanyo tech support why they cant tell me over the phone how to reset the overheat switch and their answer was they wanted to provide the outmost support care for their products. Go figure.

Sanyo Model PLC-xe40 We have had this problem with many of the same model data projectors from Sanyo. The solution is to get Sanyo to sort out the persitent problem with this mode. We have sent back all of our data projectors under warranty. The problem reoccurs. We send the data projectors back. It is a design or engineering problem in my opinion.
