Question about HP DeskJet F380 All-In-One Printer
I've been trying to install the HP Deskjet F300 series driver and it's been 5 days already and it's still 94% cmpleted and the install "speed" has gone down to from over 400kbps to 0.7kbps. It didn't take that long to install it in another pc. What's going on?
I'm using Windows XP professional 2002 service pack 2 on an AMD Athlon XP 1.2Ghz, 1GB ram
It seems like your having issue installing the Software of the printer. Here are the things that i want you to follow. Before doing that, make sure that the USB cable that you use to plug-in from the back of the COMPUTER going to the PRINTER is already UNPLUG.
1. Performed level 1, level 2 and level 3 uninstallation, How? follow this.
a.) insert the CD that you used to install the Software.
b.) I want you to open the CD file. (x:\util\ccc), where X is your CD drive.
c.) when the CD file is open, try to loof for UTIL folder and open it, it will give you 2 sub folders, just open the CCC folder.
e.) inside CCC folder, it will give you several files. I want you to run the uninstall_l1.bat file. A black box will open (CMD window) just hit ENTER on your keyboard to start removing the UNSUCCESSFUL INSTALLATION. When the uninstallation is complete, a window will pop-up that will promt you to restart your Computer. DO not restart your computer, instead, click on the box that says "Restart Later". to continue running the next file. (please do not restart your computer after performing the uninstall_l2.
d.) after performing uninstall_l1.bat, run the uninstall_l2, then after that run the uninstall_l3.bat. When uninstall_l3 is done, click on restart on that pop-up box. this time, you need to restart your computer
2. When you computer finish to reboot, try to click on START then go to "RUN". when it opens, type $temp% then click okay.
3. the temporary files will open, delete all the files there.
4. try to reinsert the CD so that the installation box will open.
5. Try to install the Software using the CUSTOM INSTALLATION.
Note: custom installation would let you choose which components of the software that you want to install. AS you go along the installation, it will show you the list of the programs that are going to be installed. I want you to uncheck the following:
1. Customer Participation Program.
3. HP update.
4. Photosmart Essential 2.5 (anything that says photosmart)
6. if you already uncheck those, try to click NEXT to continue the installation.
Note: Installing the Printer SOftware would take sometime. Please let me know if the steps i gave to you wont solve the issue so that i can go ahead and give you another best solution..
Thank you so much. And im looking for a positive response from you.

Stop it and get another installer form HP or driversguide.com
this should be done even with a little slower computer in about 30 min at the most
