I have a compaq persario m2000 my wifi light is on but i cant get to the internet, its telling me Internet Explorer cannot display, the webpage please help thanks

There are two lights for the WiFi, Amber and Blue. the following explanation is from HP's website.

An indicator light c01525482.jpg glows blue when the Bluetooth or WiFi communication devices are turned on. If the computer has both Bluetooth and WiFi and one of them is turned off or the device is disabled, the light glows amber. The indicator light does not glow at all when power to the device is turned off. The HP Wireless Assistant software must be used to enable or disable the individual wireless functions.

What is the button with the circle with a line on top and dot on bottom and flashes red mean

There are four Easy Launch buttons above the Keyboard.

First one has a symbol of a circle with a line in the top, and a dot at the bottom.

This is the Wireless communication button, and also is an indicator light.

It enables, or disables the wireless function.
Red light indicates there is no Wireless communication on.

I cant find the wireless switch on this computer help

Hello mac552,

There is a row of small buttons just below the power button. The button furthest to the left is the wireless communication button/indicator. The button has a small icon on it that kind of resembles a sattelite dish. Pressing the wireless communication button will enable or disable the wireless function. it also has a small light which indicates the status of wireless LAN communications.

If this solution is helpful please click a thumbs-up rating below.

Have a great day,

How to switch on my wifi

1. There is a wireless on/off switch on the righthand side of the laptop between microphone jack and USB port. Slide this switch to the right to turn it on and to the left to turn it off. Check the Wireless communication indicator on the front side. It will start glowing orange when the wireless communication is enabled.
2. Also, Fn+F8 Key turn on/ off the wireless communication.

Hope it helps! Good Luck!

How do i turn on wifi

F1 turn the status lights on or off. F2 turn the optional wireless network on or off. Warning: Radio frequency wireless communication can interfere with equipment on commercial aircraft. Current aviation regulations require wireless devices to be turned off while traveling in an airplane. 802.11G (also known as wireless Ethernet or Wifi) communication devices are examples of devices that provide wireless communication. Important: Your notebook came to you with the optional wireless network turned off.
F3 to enter Standby mode. Press the power button to leave Standby mode. F4 toggle the display in the following order:
  • Notebook display (default)
  • External monitor (if connected)
  • Both the notebook display and the external monitor (if an external monitor is connected)
F7 decrease the display brightness. F8 increase the display brightness. F9 play or pause a CD or DVD. F10 stop a CD or DVD. F11 play the previous track a CD or DVD. F12 play the next track of a CD or DVD. Scroll turn on Num Lock so you can use the numeric keypad. Press this key combination again to turn off Num Lock. The Num Lock status indicator appears when this function is turned on.

NO WIRELESS CONNECTION

I am aboutsure about the question, but what i understood is wireless switch location

First close your laptop, then look the front view where the speaker is located, From the left

1.Speakers Left and right speakers deliver stereo audio
output.

2 Power indicator Lights up when the computer is on.

3 Battery indicator Lights up when the battery is being charged
.
4 Bluetooth communication
button/indicator (for
selected models)
Press to enable/disable the Bluetooth
function. Indicates the status of Bluetooth
communication (optional).

5 Wireless communication
button/indicator
Press to enable/disable the wireless function.
Indicates the status of wireless LAN
communication (optional).

6 Line-in jack Accepts audio line-in devices (e.g., audio CD
player, stereo walkman).

7 Mic-in jack Accepts inputs from external microphones.

So your wireless switch is the 5th one from the left. Locate it and turn on the wireless, and try to connet to the router.
Try this, hope it may work,
