Re: colours seem to be fading
If your colors are getting dim and ocasionally seeing halos around objects. Its almost 100 percent that your coolant needs changing in the CRTs. There is a kit called Phillips Coolant change which has step by step procedure with pictures on how to replace the coolant and also contains the 48 ounces of high quality optical grade coolant. It is available at the following link under the catagory repair Kits. And it cost less for the whole kit than just having a tech come to your home to tell you thats what it needs. This is a common problem with any rear projection more than 5 years old. Heres the link and if you need more info leave them a email on the site they respond quickly,. http://servicemanuals.vstore.ca/

The only time I have had issues like this was because of the Component Cables not being in the right position (the Red and Blue connections switched), or a bad Component Cable where the Blue Connection is not receiving a signal. Swap out the cable to be sure and double check that it is properly installed. Green to Green, Red to Red , Blue to Blue.
Hope this helps,
the first thing I would do is to clean the lenses of the CRTs they may be coated with dust that will dim the picture. other than that the CRTs may be failing since the phospher of CRTs fade in brightness over time and the only solution is to replace all three CRTs. the CRTs I have discovered are no longer availible.
That is the V26 chassis dlp. Which has been plauged with bad capacitors. I have serviced many mitsubishi DLPs and have found that there are 4 1000uf @16v capacitors on the FMT board that can give the video some problems they are C8F21, C8F22, C8F19, and C8F27. These chassis are a real bear to work on. I would recomend a service center that is authorized by mitsubishi do any repairs on that model. Mitsubishi has a list of authorized service centers on their website that you can look up by zipcode. If you need more help please let me know. I am very famillar with that chassis
No It is not the picture tube.
First, I would suspect a bad solder connection (cold solder connection) to find this problem hit the side cassing to see if the picuture goes away or comes back.
Another way is take the back cover off and tap gently on the boards with something not conductive or your hair would look like mine. The most commond section is power supply and neer the Horizontal flyback transformor.
The horizontal transformor look at it, it's a big greyish darty little thing about 3" x 4" and stand up about 4" with a big red wire going out of it. Don't touch it, it has very high voltages, just look what it done to my hair I'm telling you don't touch it along with it's red lead's. Just look to see if it is arking if so replace it.
When you have convegence problem , it is mis aligment of the colours in the genmentry aligments.
I would suspect more in the power supply section.
