Pfaff Hobby 1142 Reverse stitch lever twisted doesn't work

Hi, the reverse stitch lever on my Pfaff Hobby 1142 looks twisted and won't reverse stitch - been to 1 repair shop who actually told me it was MADE that way (turned toward the sewing operator) to make it easier to use - BUT his sample stitch cloth showed NO reverse stitches because it doesn't work!

Can I open the machine somehow to get to this and see if it simply got "unhooked" or whatever from the reverse thing?

Thanks

Hi Sewman7, I spoke to them on the phone and after a few days of being put off, was told I could bring it back in - Unfortunately we were leaving to travel for 6 months, we did dispute the charges... I guess I'm going to find someone up north of Cleveland, that really knows the "pfaff" brand. Thanks so much!

Hi, your reverse stitch lever is broken, it's plastic and should have been made stronger. Pfaff doesn't make it easy to get the front half of the plastic case off, which you will need to do to get to the lever. I haven't found anyone selling a replacement part. You can go my route and try a repair with epoxy.

Take it back to the Dealer.( He probably has a guarantee on the work he did). Let him show you how it works. If he won't do this then it is definitely time to find a more reputable dealer. If you paid for a repair it should have been repaired.

I have the same problem. |Until I can get it fixed \i have been tipping it back to straight and then pressing down evenly which seems to give me a little reverse. I think that the plastic extension inside is cracked. \i hope that this is a part that is acessible!

Is there a reverse switch? where

Depends on your machine. Consult your owner's manual.

On a lot of older machines, the Stitch Length Selector will reverse if the lever is pushed all the way up. Some really old machines do not have a reverse, so what you have to do is sink the needle in the fabric, lift the presser foot, and swivel the fabric 180 degrees so you can stitch back over the previous stitches.

Newer computerized machines will have a button, lever, or switch sometimes labeled with a reverse arrow.

Brother AE2500 reverse sewing lever is too stiff to move , how does this work please, bacause in the CD provided with this sewing machine , this lever (plastic) for doing reverse is being moved down t

Try turning the flywheel and operate the reverse lever at the same time. Some machines need to be at a certain point in the stitch cycle for the reverse lever to be used.

I just got an old Sears Kenmore Sewing machine model 385.17781. Everything is working fine except the reverse stitch. When the reverse button is pressed, the fabric doesn't move or sometimes movin

it sounds like the feed dogs & the reverse button need to be
checked at a repair shop,
to see why they are not responding to each other.

Reverse lever won't work

take off the top again and take a good look while pushing the reverse lever. See if you can see what the problem is.

Looking for the reverse button on a necchi bu nova

There is no reverse button, it is a lever. The stitch length lever also reverses the feed dogs - when down, it runs forward - at zero, it does not feed at all and when moved up, it reverses the machine. Set your stitch length by loosening the thumbscrew on the vertically moving lever and sliding the plate into position while moving the lever up to the desired mark. Tighten the screw and move the lever down to sew - to reverse just move the lever up until it hits the stop to sew the same stitch length in reverse.

Pfaff hobby 1142. only goes one way, does not complete buttonhole.

it sounds like the buttonhole mechanism is seized up or gummed up with old grease. try following the linkages for buttonhole mechanism or button to see you can locate the stuck linkage.

otherwise it sounds like a tech job.
