Hi,

Make sure that the OS is not corrupted, You can try first setting the computer in safe mode by tapping the F8 key or last known configuration. If happens you were able to set computer to safe mode. try to do system restore or last known configuration. You can select particular date to restore the system. this is very effective.

Note:
To verify if you have hadrware issue you can just try accessing the BIOS.

Without the XP CD, you're kind of stuck. If you can get one from a friend, it'll work fine. Once you get a disk, you can boot from the disk by setting your CD-ROM drive as the boot drive or run setup on the disk to start the reformat/reinstall process.

Fedora

When you start your computer Press F2 or F12 to make changes in Boot sequences.Make the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM 1st in the Sequence. Save the Changes and Exit. Before rebooting put the XP CD inside the CD-ROM Drive and reboot.
If you donot have Driver's CD of Motherboard,it is better to make Driver's CD before reinstallation.

ACER 9410CD/DVD-ROM driver not found.

Hi there,
I am assuming you are using XP,

update the drivers via device manager and select the device with the yellow question mark, right click update, reboot and restart

if nothing then remove the device via add/remove programs
select device and remove, reboot and restart

should auto recognise and install the drivers for you,
dont forget to do SP2 updates
Good luck with that,

Let me know how it goes thanks
