Ice dispenser in door will not dispense ice

I checked the switch (one switch), which workes ok. When the switch is pushed the door to the ice denspenser will open but the chrusher/denspenser will not go roundy roundy. The door will then go shut after about 5 seconds.

I was not very clear about where the problem is. This unit has an ice dispenser on the outside of the freezer. There are 2 push switches, one for water and one for ice. The one for the ice is the one I have been referring to. I have removed the 2 screws in the bottom and removed the panel. There is a circuit board on this panel and another at the bottom on the freezer door compartment. All of the connections are good and there is nothing obviously wrong.

the door switch I am referring to is the one that is activated when you open the door.
    thanks for trying.

    • door switch (usually 2 switches, 1 for the light [the light inside the freezer] and 1 for the dispenser)

    • auger motor itself

    • or the dispenser switch (the one you "checked"

    • or the plug near the hinge that connects the door the the refrigerator has a bad connection. this connection is hidden under a plastic hinge cap usually.

It is most likely one of the parts i have already stated, you may need a professional to help you in person.

Why is my GE Profile Refrigerator ice maker no longer dispensing ice?

Ice dispenser doesn't work
  1. Dispenser control board
If the ice dispenser is not functioning at all the most likely cause is going to be the dispenser control board. The dispenser control board governs the major portion of the systematic functions of the dispenser and is less likely to be the issue if only certain components are malfunctioning. If the dispenser control board is at fault, it will need to be replaced.
  1. Water inlet valve & low water pressure from house supply
If the ice dispenser on your refrigerator is not working properly, one of the first things to consider as an issue is the water pressure to your appliance. The ice dispenser cannot properly function with a psi less than 20. If psi is appropriate, proceed to replace the water inlet valve to correct the issue. You may also be dealing with low household water pressure. This low flow can be examined by using a water pressure test gauge. Once the household water pressure is resolved, you can double check your refrigerator connection to ensure it is now flowing properly and that the ice dispenser is functioning.
  1. Water tube in door is frozen
If the ice dispenser is not working on your refrigerator, the issue could be a frozen water supply tube located in the door. Although this may be a tricky problem to locate, the first thing to do is find a connection point in the tube. After this has been found, attempt to blow air through the tube. If the air flows freely through the tube, it is not frozen and this is not the issue. If it does not, the tube is frozen and needs to be removed to thaw out. As it thaws, attempt to ascertain why it froze and correct the positioning of the tubing to prevent the issue from occurring again in the future.
  1. Dispenser switch
If the refrigerator ice dispenser is not working properly you could be dealing with a defective dispenser switch. Activated by the dispenser actuator, the switches are responsible for numerous actions including ice cube disbursement, type of ice, and water controls. The switch can be tested using an ohm meter and should be replaced if it does not reveal continuity.
  1. Door switch
If the refrigerator ice dispenser is not working, the functionality of the door switch can be inspected. This switch is responsible for turning on the light in the freezer and simultaneously turning off the ice dispenser when the freezer door is opened. If this switch malfunctions, it will show no continuity on the ohm meter and will require replacement. Appliance Repair Help Troubleshooting and Appliance Parts

LG Freezer ice maker makes ice but wont dispense

There is a mechanical flap (trap door) that should open to allow ice that is being pushed by the auger in the bottom of the bin to fall out. Possibly the solenoid that opens the door does not work, or you just have an obstruction (piece of ice) preventing the door from opening far enough to allow the ice to pass through. Here is some helpful information and instructions.

I described the problem poorly, I apologize. The freezer and fridge are at the proper temperature (freezer is at 0, fridge at 40). I've checked and the water flow from the wall into the machine is good...

Hello David ,

Their are a few possible reason the ice is not being dispensed,

1) the door switch is bad...the door must be closed for the ice to dispense and perhaps the switch thinks the door is open

2) the switch that is activated when pushing the lever on the dispenser is bad

3) the dispenser motor is bad

4) the control board is bad

The paddle serves as an off and on control for your dispenser, auger and trap door that retains cold air in freeze when finished getting ice it also closes. If you notice something different I would want to rule that out first. Click Here=> GLHS68EGW2 Water Dispenser Parts Breakdown for a larger view, part 24 in photo. Ice machine makes ice, does not dispense ice

Is it making any noise at all when you press the dispenser? If not check the switch on the dispenser on the front of the door, the actuator may be broke or stuck. The only way to see this is to take it apart, you will see levers and springs, push the dispenser lever and check that the switch is making contact. If you here noise when you press the dispenser like a relay clicking you may have a bad auger motor. Is the ice tray pushed all the way in? And check the freezer door light switch, that is a safety so you cant operate the ice with the door open, if the bulb is out replace it, some models are wired to read through the bulb (dont know why) Please let me know if this helps you out.

When you press the ice dispenser no ice

the switch you push activates a couple of things. One is a solenoid that opens the door the other is a relay that moves the ice to the crusher.

Since you aren't hearing any sound....and are not getting any ice, I would suspect the switch is bad.....

But before you start taking things apart....try pushing it with your finger rather than a glass.

Check for the length of travel? can you feel or hear a switch click?
