I have an emachine T2642 desktop and I need to replace the battery. Where is the location to replace the battery

A desktop machine does not have a battery, only a power supply. Unless you are talking about the motherboard battery which is located on the motherboard inside the desktop, but if that is the case I highly suggest having someone at a local shop swap out your battery. Making a mistake could ruin the motherboard.

Need to reset the password on my netbook can't figure out how to find battery

there are two kinds of batteries on your laptop. One is the power battery which is located at the back, the other is the CMOS battery (silver coated circle-shaped) which is located inside your laptop. You need to tear it down by removing the power battery, unscrew the sides of it using the screw driver, remove the hard drive and then optical drive. Then remove the screws at the sides of your keyboard to open the inner compartment. You just **** the CMOS to reset the password on your laptop...

I can t boot my computer and I cannot locate my rescue disk, What can I do?

Emachines has a recovery partition built into most of their machines. When you power on the computer it should say something like "Press f12 for Recovery"
If that doesn't work, you can purchase a new copy of widows or try safeboot.
To enter safe mode. Press f8 as the computer boots windows.
Good Luck

Where can I find my jumper to reset my bio password on my hp computer?

On the edge of the motherboard - Most jumpers are located on the side of the motherboard for easy accessibility, verify by looking at all visible edges of the motherboard.

By the CMOS battery - Some manufactures will place the jumper to clear the CMOS / BIOS password by the actual cmos battery.

By the processor - Some manufactures will place the jumpers by the processor of the computer.

Under the keyboard or bottom of laptop - If you are working on a laptop computer the location of the dipswitch (almost never a jumper) can be under the keyboard or on the bottom of the laptop in a compartment such as the memory compartment.

Other visible location - While it is possible that the jumpers / dipswitches may not be in a visible location, most manufactures try to make things easier by placing the jumpers / dipswitches in another visible location.

If you cannot access the machine after if has been powered up, it is still possible to get past the BIOS password. The BIOS password is stored in CMOS memory that is maintained while the PC is powered off by a small battery, which is attached to the motherboard. If you remove this battery, all CMOS information (including the BIOS password) will be lost. You will need to re-enter the correct CMOS setup information to use the machine. The machines owner or user will most likely be alarmed when it is discovered that the BIOS password has been deleted.

On some motherboards, the battery is soldered to the motherboard, making it difficult to remove. If this is the case, you have another alternative. Somewhere on the motherboard you should find a jumper that will clear the BIOS password. If you have the motherboard documentation, you will know where that jumper is. If not, the jumper may be labeled on the motherboard. If you are not fortunate enough for either of these to be the case, you may be able to guess which jumper is the correct jumper. This jumper is usually standing alone near the battery. If you cannot locate this jumper, you might short both of the points where the battery connects to the motherboard.

If all else fails, you may have to clear the BIOS password by resetting the RTC (Real Time Clock) IC (Integrated Circuit) on your motherboard.

hope this helps

Demanding BIOS password

If you do not know the password, then you need to reset the CMOS. To do this, you need to locate the battery on the motherboard. Remove access covers from the bottom of the laptop and look for a silver watch type battery and remove it from the motherboard for about 3 minutes. Then insert it back and your CMOS should reset to factory defaults. This will remove the password. If you are unable to locate this battery, please check the manual or look online for battery location.

How do I reset cmos?

You need to located the jumper on your motherboard. Usually located near the battery. Just remove the jumper from the current location and place onto the other pins. You should see 3 pins after you remove the jumper. Pins 1 & 2 might of had the jumper on it. You then need to place the jumper on pins 2 & 3. Do this with the power off. Wait a few seconds and them place the jumper back on pins 1 & 2 and restart your computer.
