Question about Multimedia Projectors

2 Answers

Projector Problems I have a Mitsubishi XL2U Projector. The image shows clearly except a green "spot" or blur on the image. When I have an image or presentation a certain spot (usually the middle) is not clear. When the screen is blue, it shows a green hue. Do I need a new bulb, or is it something else?

I have the same model and same issue. I just replaced the bulb with no improvement. All I can come up with is maybe the mirror or lenses have become discolored with age or use. A new bulb is not the solution.

This is a Projector unit, there is no screen that I am aware of, only a bulb some mirrors and the lenses. The picture must originate from inside, but Im not sure the sporce is an LCD pannel. Can you clarify?

This is caused by dust on one of the LCD panels. Use a liquid air can to gently clean it.

Suddenly, benq mx511 has white pixels showing up....multiplying every day...now the projected image consists of 50% snow.

It probably has the same DLP chip as my Mitsubishi television. The mirrors in the chip set get stuck and create the white spots. There is no way to fix this other than replacing the DLP chip.

LCD projector spots showing up on the screen

there are light filters behind each lcd panel that determine the color of light going through it. because of excessive heat and dust, the filter tends to burn and cause discoloration in the image. if the image is bluish (cyan), the red filter is burning. if it's yellow, the blue is burning. if it's purplish (magenta), the green is burning. the filters will need to be replaced. unfortunately, many companies don't sell individual parts of the optical engine, so the entire engine might need to be replaced.

The projector comes on, shows an image, then shuts off

power supply problem. the capacitors are probably drying out. it takes a boost of power to strike the lamp, and if the power supply can't handle it, it shuts down. replace the power supply.

Large dot in the middle of the projected display

there is a burned-in spot on the polerizer light filter for the blue lcd. it makes sure the light is blue coming through, that's why it is black on a blue screen, and yellow when the red and green are the only light showing through. it needs to be replaced. pat # PFiLW0213CEZZ.

Mitsubishi XL8U Projector

Hi terry2421

No this is not the bulb. You will have to get the Mainboard repaired at a service provider. Losing signal and a discolouration showing up is a clear indication of a faulty Mainboard.

Get a quote first , because some service providers overcharge on these sort of repairs. The most you should pay is $150.

I have the same problem as philvo. I was watching, the projector was operating normally, I heard a snap, there was a flash of light behind me I believe, and my Mitsubishi XD300U projector went to a black and white picture. That is all it will show now. All lights show normal operation. I would like to know if it is worth getting repaired. Does anyone have any ideas?
