Get a better wireless router.

Change the location your using your laptop in.

Google your problem with hack as a keyword to read about how people can use woks to increase signal strength but watch out for laws about radiation and frequencies.

Consider getting a booster to relay your signal.

Check for wireless phones or radios, pay TVs etc. that could be affecting your signal.

Slow connection low signal

If a wireless network has low signal strength, the transfer of information across the network could be slow or you might not be able to access certain parts of the network. Here are solutions to some common problems with low wireless signal strength: Your computer is too far from the wireless router or access point. Move your computer closer to the router or access point. If your computer is portable, try moving it around to determine the range of the wireless signal and the best place to use the computer. If you can't get closer to the router or access point, consider buying and installing an external antenna for your wireless network adapter. Many wireless network adapters are set up so that you can attach an external antenna to them, which provides better reception than the built-in antenna. Check the information that came with your wireless network adapter to see if you can install an additional antenna. The wireless router or access point is turned off or isn't working properly. There are two things to try: o Make sure the router or access point is turned on and that the wireless signal light is illuminated. o Reset the router or access point by turning it off, waiting at least 10 seconds, and then turning it back on. If you don't own the access point or don't manage the network, contact the network administrator. There is interference from other devices. If you have 802.11b or 802.11g network hardware, it uses the 2.4 gigahertz (GHz) frequency. Other devices that use this frequency include microwave ovens and cordless phones. If you have 802.11a network hardware, it uses the 5 GHz frequency. Some cordless phones also use this frequency. These devices can cause interference between your computer and the network. There are two things you can try in this situation: o If any devices like these are near your computer, turn them off temporarily or move them farther away. o Change the router or access point settings to use a different wireless channel, or set the channel to be selected automatically if it's set to a fixed channel number. Sometimes one wireless channel is clearer than others. In the United States and Canada, you can use channels 1, 6, and 11. Check the information that came with your access point or router for instructions about setting the wireless signal channel. The network you're looking for is set to not broadcast its network name (SSID). Wireless routers and access points can be set up so that they don't broadcast the network name. In this case, you can't detect that the network is in range (in order to connect to it) unless you've previously connected to the network or you manually connect to the network using the service set identifier (SSID). To connect to a network that's not broadcasting, follow these steps: 1. Open Connect to a Network by clicking the network icon ( or ) in the notification area. 2. Click Unnamed Network, and then type the network information. The network will be added to your list of networks and will be available to connect to in the future when your computer is in range of the network.

Ethernet gives network signals from computer server with connectivity capacities. Once the ethernet is connected to your computer, once of the computers within the network structure has a modem or signal converter box to capture and distibute signals. Your computer is functioning with ethernet cable connection as arranged default. Recent computers however have wiifii capacities meaning that, the modem box is not ncecssary to make signals recognised. Recent computers have builtin signal recepticles, once the programs wireless features are enbled, any available computer networks aer detected. Howver, the wiifii makes connectivity to networks by requesting password keys if the aletrnate computers have protected the entry. Simply said, your computer is ok to function with ethernet as regular achievement. only when the ethernet is malfunct usually caused by the computer that has the modem disconnecting from yours. Your computer should actually get better networking with only one of the method available either ethernet or wiifii. Attempting to receive signals with wiifii and ethernet at the same time impedes the network speed since the structures may only allow an amount of data passage for each network on the same computer. Use the computer wireless buttons located at the system settings area to disable the wiifii until a computer request within your knownlege request to activate wiiffii. Keep in mind that once your wiifii is enabled, another computer is sharing resoruces makign the computer slower if a password was not set.

No wireless detect connection

Hi
Note all changes to be made from wired computer only . Any computer that is phisically connected to the router.
Open the router setup page by typing in your default gateway address( router address) on the web browser
You can get it by
Start -> run -> cmd -> ipconfig
You will see the router setup page opening up
Check what it says . IF on the top it says Internet Status :: Connected then
1. Under wireless you'll see channell and ssid
2. Change channell to 6 or 11 .That gives you the best wireless signal strength . This is the most probable cause .
If you want you can also change the
3. Check your security key
4. And apply changes
5. Now on your wireless laptop go to Control panel ->Network connections -> wireless network connections -> right click -> deleate preffered networks -> refresh netweork list
6. You will find your network there select and connect.

Works great

If Ip status : says not connected
1. restore factory default
2. reconfigure router
3. reconnect

This shoud help and please let me know .

Windows xp wont connect to internet

Please check you LAN settings on your router (DNS) - usually it is 0.0.0.0 (assigned by provider)
Make sure your PC is using DHCP (TCP/IP properties -> Obtain IP Address Automatically & Obtain DNS server address automatically). Try "ipconfig /all" at others computers and compare with your PC (look at gateway & DNS). See if you can ping gateway and then outside address.

p.s. To access your router open Internet Explorer and enter http://192.168.0.1/
If it is not working, check the default gateway address on working computer and use it instead.

Low signal need netgear name

  1. Open an Internet explorer and type the router IP address which would be either http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1 (by default, refer to your product documentation ti determine the default IP address.) in the address bar and press Enter.
The Login window will be prompting for a Username and Password. The default Username is admin and the default Password is password
once you see the setup you can configure and change the name and security of your network
to find out which one is your network place the router as close to the laptop/desktop so that u get a strong signal
if u get other networks u will no yours if try logging onto them and it asks for a password..if u have not configured your without security then that network must be yours..
hope it helps..do letme know if u need anymore help..
