    Exactly the same problem . Several resets , but no resolution yet . It occured after the receiver was quite warmed up- hot standing under the car window.

    I started having the exact same problem this past weekend. About 30 minutes into my trip and it was hot that day....

    The unit works fine until I pull open the antenna and it just recycles on and off. I notice that Garmin doesn't provide any technical support or repair because the unit is discontinued. #@^*&^

    Same exact problem, starting around early July. I thought it was a battery problem, and I've replaced the battery with a brand new one. No joy. Now I think it's a software problem in the GPS module/software. I don't know what the problem is, or how to fix it. One guy on this forum said that after several hard resets he was able to get it to work. I guess I'll keep trying.

    Several times I was able to get it to go right up to the point of doing a GPS position fix before it crashed. It repeatably crashed just as it should have been doing a position fix. That's why I think it's a software bug. Other times it crashes as soon as I open the GPS antenna flap.

    I know that several months ago the Air Force launched GPS satellite number 32 (PRN32), which (for technical reasons related to binary arithmetic) caused problems for many GPS receivers. I wonder whether this is one of them.

A "non-volatile reset" on my unit fixed the problem. This is harder than the normal soft reset, where you just stick a paperclip in the little reset hole on the back. Quoting from another website:

====
Non Volatile Reset - This reset clears out all the GPS data and restores all GPS settings to factory defaults. Particularly useful for our European users where the Egnos sats can sometimes send out test data the iQue doesn't like.
To perform, press and hold the ESC button and the datebook button while pressing the reset button. Hold the ESC and datebook buttons for at least 10 seconds and release.
====

In other words, hold down the ESC button (on the left side next to the jog-wheel), hold down the datebook button (leftmost of the four little buttons on the front) and then use your paperclip to push the reset button in the little hole in the back. Then keep holding the first two buttons down for ten seconds.

You need three hands to do this, but it worked for me.

I had this problem and did several resets both soft and hard. I also charged the battery completely. The gps unit would work in sim mode but when the antenna was opened it would not. Eventually after several charging cycles and resets, I was able to get it to settle down. I had to sync and reload all data. Good :Luck

I have used the Gpsmap 178c for about 3 years now. Recently I have started be unable to find satelites, wass on or off. Once in a while it works. presently I get no satelites I would buy a new antenna...

Based on the problems I have seen with this unit the problem is the reciever circuit not the antenna, so you should consider a new unit, Garmin charges a fortune to repair these.

Thumbwheel of left side of IQUE3600 needs re-assembly

I have this same issue. Not sure yet what the answer is, but you will have to take it apart. The spring lays on top of the thumb wheel and the ends fit into notches so you have to seat one and then pull the other end back and up till it will seat in the notch. Then you have to place the thumb wheel back in place and put the silver cap on top. I had it all together but putting the unit back together just right will be difficult as my thumb wheel isn't seated right.. Guess you just have to keep at it till you line everything up correctly. I also had the problem with the brightness not being adjustable but haven't fixed that yet.

The touch screen of my nuvi 360 go crazy when antenna is open

Going to say it's rf interferance that makes things go crazy. If the gps unit works fine witrh the antennae in the down or closed position then leave it like this. If not you might have to try moving the unit around to different spots on your dash and hope that one of them will work. Oh as to the reason, the plastic is a little thicker on the back of the unit wqhere the antennae is and the antennaes power when it is up is able to radiate a little better since the top of the antennae is the part that gets the power.
Hope this helps

No longer receives GPS signal

Does this unit have an input for an external antenna? If you get/borrow another antenna you could see if it starts working. That might isolate the problem to the antenna.

Garmin ique3600 stuck in the calibration screen

Give the screen a thorough cleaning with a soap and water cloth (NOT SOAKING) and allow to completely air dry. Then try recalibrating.

I have a ique 3600 and was working fine until I plugged in the ac adapter to the bottom of the unit. It won't turn on. I did a soft reset and now I get a flashing Palm Software screen. I even tried a reset...

Mine has gone into the looping/flashing Palm Screen and then displays the hard reset do you want to erase everything. I fixed it by pushing the up button when it gave me the chance to delete everything and it fixed it.

Cannor CHANGE language from Spanish to English.

You didn't say what manufacturer your device is, but usually if you co to their web site youcan down load the language. I had the same problem on a iQue3600 and just did a hot sync with the language I wanted. Worked fine.

Ique 3600 does not work why?

Well unfortunately, sounds like it's replacement time.... same problem I had with mine. Even with an external antenna...no or little signal. Garmin charges $200 canadian for an exchange unit.
So much for costumer support.
Good luck.

Fritzed Unit when antenna up

I have a similar problem but I can't turn the GPS off at all, even when the antenna is down. As far as the power on/off cycle, I found another link on this site that said to turn off WAAS while the GPS is off then when you turn it on the unit will not power cycle continuously. You loose the WAAS feature but the GPS and unit still works.
