    Thanks John.
I've found shortcut on PD28 diode,( measured on board ) now I'll try to de-solder it and check. The SMD code on it is T25L. its located in power circut beside PQ118 voltage regulator. I let You know about results.

It looks like common problem with DV1000.

P.s. Used motherboard are too expensive - I'vesuccesfully fix already few laptops for my friends. Now I have problem with mine.

My HP dv1000 has the same problem, and so -- from searching Google -- do a zillion others'. Like many others, the fan quit on my dv1000 when quite new, so I learned how to disassemble it to fix my fan. You can find HP instructions at http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00.... I say this because even if the fan is working well, the aluminum duct that transports the fan air over the chip gets clogged with dust. It is filled with a fine matrix of copper wire and there is just no effective way to clean it without disassembly. Take the duct off and run water through it. Now -- about this damned power up problem -- try this. Pull the display toward you and half-close the laptop till its only open about 3". Leave yourself just enough room to reach in and hit the power switch, HOLD the screen, pressing it slightly as if you were about to close it all the way, but not pressing enough to actually close it. Why? The display is screwed to the same inner frame as the mother board. Constantly Opening the screen flexes the frame and flexes the mother board... tiny cracks can appear in the board r the solder joints.. By holding it like this you are flexing it back the other way. Does it power up now? Mine did. But as soon as you open the display, it powers down again because the cracks in the board open up a fraction. Solutions: New mother board (of course)-- an expensive solution. A soldering iron and a steady hand (and a magnifying glass) -- this is only for the brave. Try some flat nylon washers under all the rear screw holes in the mother board. They bend the board up very slightly so it is concave. I was able to get mine to boot that way after re-assembly, but I'm really not confident about opening or closing the display any more than absolutely necessary. Still at least it is powered up and useable.

My laptop had the fan replaced - and the motherboard - while it was still under warranty. Makes me leery of buying an HP again already. Now the screen goes black. If I push the screen shut off switch quickly, it comes back on. Sometimes I have to do this a couple times before it stays on. Replaced the lCD inverter adn it wasn't that. Blonde is open to suggestions <sigh>

This sounds to me like a motherboard issue, you could try going over all connections with a multimeter to see if any are broken. I would suggest to try and replace the board that ill fix it.

If your laptop appears to boot up and the hard disk LED flashes, then the problem is probably a back light fault. This can be a faulty inverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Fan not working powers up then off with black screen

OverheatingWhen the CPU overheats then it will shut down (i.e. thermaloverload) and won't boot up again until it has cooled down. If this is theproblem is not fixed then the CPU will eventually fail.
A faulty fan causes the problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are cloggedwith dust.
Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan.
If the fan and heat sink is clogged with dust the remove the dust and make surethe vents are clear and dust free. Use a small brush and can of compressed airto do this.

My 1501 Dell Inspiron turns on but I have a blank black screen. The only light that shows is the power light on the upper right side of the laptop.

Power getting to the laptop. Try first to see if this will give a screen image on an external monitor, listen for the sound of the cpu fan, hard drive and DVD rom drives clicking, see if the DVD rom drive will open if pressed.

Then remove battery and AC adaptor, press the power button for 30 secs, refit mains only and try this on mains supply (no battery)

If this fails to boot, check the light on the ac adaptor is a steady green, flashing green indicates power is not fully reaching the laptop (motherboard problems)

If it is steady and the LED power light on the laptop is steady, suspect the DC jack socket. If this feels loose or sloppy, it will need replacing, depending on the type fitted, it may be soldered onto the board, or a wired connector, which sometimes goes bad.

After that, I'd suggest that a capacitor has gone on the actual motherboard and you will need to strip the laptop to check it.

When a laptop overheats the CPU will shutdown, this is known as thermal overload. The laptop will not boot up until the CPU has cooled down. If this problem in not fixed then the CPU will eventually fail.
This problem is usually caused by a faulty fan or the fan and heat sink is clogged with dust.
Replace the fan if it does not spin freely and or remove the dust clogging the fan and heat sink.
