Hello! You know how to take off the HDD from its casing?  okay, No. 1 error is due to loose of connections. All you have to do is to dismantle it. And be sure to memorized where its original position. You need to set the jumper settings of your HDD to master.  next, be sure all the connections are intact and well connected, then assemble it again. next, be sure you are using Power Mac g4 CPU 1.2Ghz with at least 1GB of memory or Higher than G4 units, cause 300GB couldn't be detected lower than that, then plug it in. if it still didn't work out, try to ask help from service center near you to assist you.

I have a Que M3 hard drive 80GB,which is not recognized on Imac.

Few thoughts

1. Go to System Profiler (see in Applications then Utilities) and check whether (dependent upon whether it is USB or Firewire) the drive is showing up
2. Have you checked whether the cable is okay, have you got a spare cable.
3. Change the usb port on the imac that you are using (could be damaged)

Good luck

conect your harddisk to computer whch has windows xp.
Then go to start emnu then type in run 'cmd"

Macintosh computer not recognizing the LaCie external hard drive

1. If you have another firewire device test this device with the same firewire cord you are currently useing for the LaCie. (if there is no reasponse form the other device then it is the cord it's self) If not then 2. Check the Leads on the back of the LaCie where the firewire plugs in if the copper looks tarnished use a ear swab dipped in Lime Away or CLR to clean it then wait for it to dry and try the cord again. 3. if these physical connections are in good connection with each other and the firewire in port on your computer and on the LaCie are good then. Run a "Permissions" verify and repair through the disk utility program on your Mac with the LaCie turned on and plugged in.
FINALLY if none of these options repair the LaCie you may have to open the LaCie up and check to make sure the soldering from the firewire to the chip set is still in tact. I hope this helps Happy Macing.
