For video data transmission from the Media Receiver to the PDP-434HD and PDP-504HD-series Plasma Displays, digital signals are used. Therefore, this unit adopts the HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) system for copyright protection. This unit is also provided with a detection switch (TRAP switch) that will prohibit the unit from being turned on again "if the upper plate of the unit is accidentally opened," in order to prevent the panel technology from being leaked out. The TRAP switch is disabled while the unit is turned off. When performing internal diagnosis of the PDP, fix the switch to the OFF position using adhesive tape before turning on the unit. After servicing, be sure to remove the adhesive tape.
Well you've probably guessed what my next question is......How do i unlock this receiver?. I'm told that it's simply a matter of keying in 3 buttons of the remote in a defined sequence. I have the service manual but it doesn't say much about unlocking.
"The next generation of Blu Ray players will be equipped with powerful explosives that will kill everybody in sight if the unit detects possible tampering or if someone puts a DVD+R in it." )
( They use a photocell to kill the DVI board if light hits it (as in the backboard removed). The TV continues to work, but not in HD. bypass the Pioneer's switch, or put black tape over the photocell.
Pioneer used to repair this for nothing even out of warranty (they did for me), but they may not be so willing now, as your tele must be at least 6 years old. Unfortunately, it will be cheaper to buy a new TV than to pay for a contractor to fix it.
you have tript the trap switch. there is one in he panel and one in the media reciever.you have to enter the technicians code followed by pressing the mute button 4 times then the display button. this should reset the trap switch.i presume you have put the cover back on. if not you must tie down the trap switch which you will see facing up
