Well If a white screen shows up when you turn it on, select format. Wait for it to finish, then when it asks for a update file, plug it in to the computer and copy the .aos update file to the archos. Don't put it in a folder, just put it the root, (the folder that has the folders for music, video, flash, etc.) Unplug it and the archos should recognize it and proceed with the firmware update.
Hi, my Archos 605 160GB is doing the same, Sorry to say the battery has gone. 2 options 1. Back to Archos 2. Replace the battery yourself I ordered mine from HK from the web site BatteryUpgrade. co. uk for about £24 - If you search on Utube there is a video showing you how to change the battery on smaller 605's
then i upgraded to Archos 605 Wifi (20GB-160GB) OS v 2.1.04 heres the link for 2.0.10 http://update.archos.com/5/a605/a605_r2.0.10/firmware_a605.aos and heres the link for 2.1.04 http://update.archos.com/5/a605/a605_r2.1.04/firmware_a605.aos
This can happen to any external drive on a pc. If the Archos is set to PC Hard Drive mode, then plug it into you PC and click Start, click Run, type compmgmt.msc, and then click OK. In the console tree, click Disk Management. You can now allocate a drive letter to the Archos. If you cannot see your Archos in this window, then you may have a dodgey usb cable.
Hi have you got your power supply plugged into the charging platform??, It would appear you have insufficient charge in the batteries on the 605.
If you have the USB lead plugged into the charging cradle this would normally ask you to select either charge or usb.
What does the CHG. light on top of the 605 do when you plug the unit into the cradle ?? (steady green-- charging. flashing green-- fully charged)
