RAZR - Inputting contacts suddenly in Japanese instead of english

When I input a new contact, the japanese characters come up instead of english. The language is set to english. Everything on the phone is in english, but when inputting a new contact name: japanese. When trying to input a new welcome message: japanese.

Weird. Any ideas? Brought it into the store, and ATT says they have no idea.

YOU ROCK!!! It worked like a charm. Thanks, Bajanguru!!!

Where can I get a download of this system in English.

Hello Frederick Dallas.

It appears a side-trip thru Micro-Soft is required.

Gathers Memory Navi Honda Genuine OP VXM-090CV... seems to resolve to a NENGUN Company.

My first inclination was to learn Japanese... but I'm old (not enough road nor time & too many other interesting things)

Astoundingly:
The following "comforting" statement ... on the CORPORATE HELP WEBSITE (http://www.nengun.com/help/website.)... says:

Even if you can't read Japanese, it is preferable to see the actual Japanese characters than invalid characters, often shown as black boxes.

Black Boxes or Japanese are pretty much the same to me (Perhaps the Japanese "MENU" icon ... is flashing green).

And then...
If you are using Microsoft Windows this can be "easily" fixed by downloading and installing the free Japanese Language pack from Microsoft.

Hubris:
Hopefully this "EASY" stuff on their website... comforts you better in ENGLISH.

Good luck with that.

Go to... Japanese Language pack from Microsoft:
See bottom,
goes all the way back to XP

I Just bought a car from japan with car DVD player MAX685DT.It,s in japanese language,i want to change it in english.

The manual is at the address below. The instructions for changing the display language are on page 279. Since the display language is in Japanese you will need to navigate to the language setting page using Japanese. I have circled the Japanese words that you will need to press in red in the image below.

Fixya would not allow me to upload the image which is only 247Kb.

So the Japanese characters that you need to press are.....

And Fixya would not allow me to post the characters eithter.

Just download the pdf, look at page 279 and follow the arrows. English is the top menu item.

How can I type Japanese o keybord?

Hai ! This is possible : )

Type in Chinese, Japanese, and other character-based languages

To type text on your computer in character-based languages, such as Chinese and Japanese, follow these steps:

[Source: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/Type-in-Chinese-Japanese-and-other-character-based-languages]

  1. Add the language as an input language. If you want to use an input method editor (IME), make sure you select it when you add the input language. For more information, see Add an input language.
    Add an input language

You can edit documents in multiple languages by changing the language (the input language) in which you type. Input languages are included with Windows, but you need to add them to your list of languages before you can use them.

    1. Open Regional and Language Options by clicking the Start button 4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33.png, clicking Control Panel, clicking Clock, Language, and Region, and then clicking Regional and Language Options.

    2. Click the Keyboards and Languages tab, and then click Change keyboards.

    3. Under Installed services, click Add.

    4. Double-click the language you want to add, double-click the text services you want to add, select the text services options you want to add, and then click OK.

  1. Change your input language to the language you installed. For more information, see Change your input language.

Change your input language

The input language is a setting in Windows that controls the language you use to type information on your computer. Before you can change an input language, you need to add that language to Windows. For more information, see Add an input language.
To change the input language

Click the Input language button on the Language bar, and then click the input language you want to use.

If you don't see the Language bar, right-click the taskbar, point to Toolbars, and then click Language bar.

  1. Change your keyboard layout to the desired layout. For more information, see Change your keyboard layout.

Change your keyboard layout

You can customize your keyboard for a specific language or format by changing the keyboard layout. The layout controls which characters appear on the screen when you press the keys on your keyboard. Some input languages have several keyboard layouts; others have only one. For example, you can change your keyboard layout from the English QWERTY format to the English Dvorak format. After you change the layout, the characters on your screen might not correspond to the characters on your keyboard keys.

Before you can change the keyboard layout, you must add the input language and keyboard layout that you want to use to Windows. For more information, see Add an input language.

On the Welcome screen, click the Keyboard layout button 0c181420-8a93-48b6-82b1-b2dc25fc01b5.png, and then select a keyboard layout.

TIP:
After you are done you can switch between Japanese and English very easily by manually pressing the on screen buttons or using keyboard commands like SHIFT+ALT to switch between Japanese (???) and the Alphabet.

The Japanese Language Support Package is required

The PDF document contains data in Japanese and needs the support package to display the correct Japanese characters. This is common with files on websites of Japanese companies even thought the document may contain English language also. You can simply cancel and then view the document English text but the Japanese text will not be displayed and you will see various garbage and blank spaces instead. Alternatively, you could simply install the support package. This will then enable Acrobat reader to correctly display Japanese characters. Note: you can also get a similar message if you access a document in Chinese which will then prompt you to install the Chinese support package!
